This guy helped to shape the sound of punk in the '90s. He was like the Ryan Greene for bands that "made it." Nice body of work, he will be missed. 4+ Replies

That had to be the worst eleven days of anyone's life, I can't even imagine. Fuck man, my condolences.

It's a tragedy that he died at such a young age and so suddenly. However, I have never really liked the work that he did.

It is awful he died at such a young age, however I thought he overproduced everything and never really made a good album. Yes, Dear You was amazing, but he was not that instrumental in the sound as Rob Cavallo engineered it, whereas Jerry Finn mixed. Still a big deal, but his engineering was over the top.

Holy shit, I didn't realize he was that young. He was suuuper young when he made some of his masterpieces. 1+ Reply

RIP. when i was young and was buying these records, i didnt know what the fuck a producer was, or a mix guy, but i knew that he must have been great cause his name was on almost everything i bought. as i grew i realized what his job entailed and discovered more projects that he was a part of and genuinely hoped that my little band at the time could someday collaborate with him. i love almost everything he's done, and it goes without saying he was fucking young. death sucks. RIP. i will never ever forget this name: JERRY FINN. 1+ Reply

I came upon this by total chance when I posted it. I had just got a book on recording and mixing and I saw his credentials and shit, so I went to look him up on wikipedia just to find out that he had died the day before. It totally bummed me out. He worked on some of my favorite records of all time.

Man did more in 1995 alone than I'll probably ever do in my entire life.
tmfxjohn (August 25, 2008)
i'll be honest and say that i didn't like him as a producer

I am a distant cousin of Jerry's and I'm deeply shocked by his sudden and tragic passing. Most of my time with Jerry was spent in childhood during the holidays and I can remember at an early age thinking how clever and witty Jerry was and how I wanted to be like him. I knew he had a deep interest in music and it didn't suprise me later in life he had achieved so much success. R.I.P Jerry. God Bless | Features
