New Music Roundup: Life's Great Tragedy, Rat City Riot, The Mean Jeans

Glendora, California's Lifes Great Tragedy has posted two new tracks online from their recent EP The Spectre. You can find the songs over at MySpace.

San Diego's Rat City Riot have a new album on the way on September 13th. The band will celebrate with a show at the Che Cafe in La Jolla, featuring Northern Towns and Dead City Dregs. The record will be release din Europe by People Like You Records.

Portland, Ontario's The Mean Jeans have a new video online for the song "Stoned 2 The Bone." You can check it out on YouTube. The band will release a 7" soon via Dirtnap affiliated Green Nose Records.

While we're not encouraging people to send us want ads we do have word that a fairly established US band (who wishes to remain quasi-anonymous) is looking for a new drummer and second guitarist / back up vocalist. The band is getting ready to hit the road in October and is looking to fill those spots as soon as possible. The group's been around since 2002 and has performed with bands like Midtown, the Movie Life and A Static Lullaby among others. You can find contact info and more on the band at CraigsList.

how about welcoming your friend who had to vacate his apartment as of yesterday and who WILL officially be moving in on the 15th, only to have your current roommate flipping out and essentially kicking out your friend because he has to crash on the couch, something that the friend of all people doesn't exactly relish having to do, because the current roommate wants the couch to eat dinner and watch america's next top model all to herself?

oh yeah, and the current roommate is breaking lease and moving out on the 15th, thus creating a vacancy less than two months after we signed a lease. and after all that she decides she still wants to keep the apartment in her fucking deathgrip til 12:01am on monday the 15th morning. way to be a blazing, sand-filled cunt.

seriously. i'm one of those people who definitely wants to keep everybody and everything on good terms, and i hate it because there's no really truly just way to fucking handle this situation. if my friend leaves, he's essentially homeless and sleeping on someone else's couch. but my roommate still does have claim (in writing on the new lease) that she gets to live here til the 15th and she's not gonna give it up. we're doing a huge favor for my friend by letting him even move all his shit in two weeks early (unless he just lives in a U-Haul for 2 weeks, and fuck that shit. i'm not gonna put my friend through even more bullshit than he's already gone through this weekend)

ugh. i just feel like a complete fuckstick right now because this is about 60% my fault. i suggested that my friend can take over the room because he has to leave. and now my roommate's done

seriously, she signed the lease. I know no one in their right mnd would ever go through the expense/hassel of doing this, but you could totally sue her, she AGREED to pay the rent, technically, she has to.

Yeah, I thought the band asking was gonna be a big deal what with the whole attempt at anonymity, but maybe that's why they obviously didn't try too hard to stay anonymous (i.e. copypasting band details from an existing webpage about the band).

Oh well. Could have been an interesting news story.

So, as this is Navel Gazing.

Last night, I lost an $81 unlimited metrocard (access to the subways). This would piss me off, except that last month I lost TWO OF THEM. This all comes after two years of using them and never having a problem, and now? No new pants. No new changes in my habits, nothing. However I was at a BBQ with some friends and a girl when this happened, and I got irrationally angry. Recognizing this, i decided to just leave, me and my friend went to a nearby bar and drank alot of cheep whiskey, in fact my order to the bartender was "I need two cheep beers and two cheeper shots opf whiskey" I was an hour late to work today and didnt know it until i got here. awesome.

In Arizona, summer goes til about Thanksgiving. Sure, on paper it's over in September, but weather-wise it was still 100 degrees on Halloween last year.
