Napalm Death detail new album

Legendary UK grindcore band Napalm Death are currently working on a new album. Titled Time Waits For No Slave, the band has been working with producer Russ Russell, and expects the new album to surface in early 2009 via Century Media Records. Bassist Shane Embury also recently spoke with Suite101.com about the band's upcoming thirteenth full-length studio album.

We've got about seventeen songs together," Embury said. "I guess it's moving on again from the last album. It's still very fast and hopefully heavy. There's a couple of strange kind of moments in the music, with a little more experimentation and a little more discordance in the guitar perhaps.

The band's last output was 2006's Smear Campaign.

me too, but it's not really grindcore. It's actually just real screamo (but which I mean the kind from the 90's, not the kind that silverstein fans love) which is kind of funny considering thursday and glassjaw have always been mislabeled screamo in the past.

Most "grindcore" bands are/were from Europe,Earache, the quintessential label is from England. Napalm Death was the flagship band for the whole movement besides maybe Carcass who shared their original singer. No grindcore originally came out of Florida. You are probably erroneously refering to the Tampa Bay DEATH METAL scene. BIG difference. Grind is a kissin cousin to Crust.Its less regimented and technical than metal,is less obsessed with The Christian boogeyman,and more political. So less hick-a-zoid all around. The Tampa/florida scene is what spawned Death(who were the best ones)Rigor Mortis,Cannibal Corpse,Deicide,Obituary etc. not to mention a little band known as Marilyn Manson. Just so you know.....And knowing is half the battle!

I enjoy this band from time to time but I can only take them in small doses. I can usually make it to about half or 3/4 of the album before everything just starts blending together for me. In all the Napalm releases I've heard or own, I can't say that I can really sit through a single entire album and remember what the hell i just heard.

You see, there's this thing called "genres" and different people like different things. This is where it gets tricky and dumb Indy kids get all confused, PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIKE HEAVY MUSIC! Holy shit what a concept.

Its funny, because people like you are the same close minded people who used to bash punk years ago when it first started because it was just "noise". Do you understand the irony of bashing music you don't understand? You sound like a retard because it so painfully (embarrassingly) shows your ignorance of the genre.

How about when you invent a entire genre of music (Im sure you don't know what that is, but its grindcore) than you can come back and criticize ND contributions to music.

I apologize, I have a disease where I like to see people get pissed when you trash the music they listen to. Pretty juvenile I know, but usually stirs up some good debates. I'm actually probably the furthest thing from close minded when it comes to music. I wouldn't consider myself a punk at all. I love the punk era of late 60's-70's, but really don't even understand how 95% of the bands on this site are even associated with the genre. I'm a rock n roller who can certainly dig some heavy metal. I wouldn't say I'm ignorant to the genre because my friend has been trying to sell me this stuff for years, and my girlfriend actually tortures me with some from time to time. I can appreciate a lot of it musically, but they lose me with the vocals. I can dig some screaming, but the growling gets to me. Just not for me. Cool that you like it though.
