Misfits drop off Volcom 2008 Tour

The Misfits have dropped off the ongoing Volcom 2008 Tour. The tour is being headlined by legendary British heavy metal act Motörhead and features bands like Valient Thorr and Year Long Disaster. The Misfits posted:

For the sake of our loyalty and dedication to all our fiends, the Misfits have chosen to withdraw from the lineup of Volcom's 2008 tour. The Misfits have always held an incredibly high standard of performance and quality in everything we do. Our fans expect this and deserve it. I will not compromise their expectations for any amount of money, prestige or fame. I apologize for the inconvenience and will reschedule performances wherever possible throughout our upcoming tour this Oct.

The shows were to be the first time that Motörhead and the Misfits had played together in the United States. The Misfits these days are a three piece consisting of bassist Jerry Only backed by former Black Flag members Dez Cadena and Robo.

WRONG.

Motorhead essentially IS Lemmy, just like the Misfits were arguably Glen "Glassjaw" Danzig.

That statement should have been released the second Doyle left. I'm not saying the 'new' Misfits came anywhere near the classic band, but they weren't the worst. They never should have taken that name, certainly not with the current lineup. Just waiting for the Jerry Only Acoustic Christmas.

Truth be told, while Lemmy, Mikkey, and Phil are 3 of the greatest musicians, and coolest people I have ever met, their production crew, on the other hand, proved themselves to be a bunch of, to put it nicely, SNOBS! They did not allow The Misfits ample time to soundcheck, ESPECIALLY after they witnessed the raw power, intensity and VOLUME of their set! They seemed to feel threatened, and they lashed out. They didn't know who they were dealing with. Jerry WILL WALK away from any situation in which competitiveness, and FUN are lost, and this was definitely one of them! Obviously, money had NOTHING to do with it! Otherwise, he would have stayed on the tour, and raked it in!

The Misfits may deserve that comment, but Darby commited suicide and their legend grew slowly.And the Reagen Youth guys are recording new songs ABOUT Dave Insurgant and they do it aside from day jobs and dont get anywhere NEAR paid like the other two,ESPECIALLY the Misfits.

Why am I not surprised that Jerry Only dropped off the tour. I love the Misfits (Danzig and Graves eras), but Jerry is just beating a dead horse. Call it a day and just re-release your catolouge and stop dicking around with these tours.

Translation: Everyone made fun of us and Lemmy is blowing us out of the water with his awesomeness. There are no expectations for this new farce of a band. Thats a complete load of Bullshit. No one cares about this band without Danzig. I will admit that I liked the Michale Graves stuff a little but come on. You are a joke Jerry Only.

I just saw this show last night actually...must have been their last night. They soundchecked for like 45 fucking minutes while Jerry Only signed autographs and boosted his already huge ego. Occasionally he would say stupid shit. Good to see Dez and Robo though...but it was disappointing. I would have rather seen Dez and Robo just jam for 40 minutes. Least I wouldn't have to wish that Jerry would stop singing that way.
