Adam Pfahler resurfaces in A Black Light

Former Jawbreaker and J Church drummer Adam Pfahler has resurfaced with another new project, this one is San Francisco-based three piece, A Black Light.

In early October, Adam, along with bandmates Chris Darosa and Shawn Biggs, will be heading into the studio to record an EP. Biggs spent several years at Fat Wreck Chords Motor Studios assisting on records by The Real Mckenzies, Lagwagon, NOFX, No Use For a Name and will be engineering and producing the record in his SF studio. The band plans on self releasing the record in late January.

Gaslight tattoo or laptop?
It's a tough decision.
I would get the Gaslight tattoo in a heartbeat, but I don't want to end up like all the Trio fans.

I was going to go with kinda a shipish them with some of lyrics of "I Could'a Been A Contender" in it. Not just a straight up tattoo that says gaslight anthem.

Seriously? Assuming you mean the alternative is an actual laptop, not a tattoo of a laptop, that doesn't seem like a difficult decision. Getting a tattoo of any band still in existence is a very risky move.

Wait til the next album? They haven't been around very long yet and yeah you don't wanna have this tattoo of a band that sort of suck in the future when you may not like them?)

I sort of only have tattoos of bands that are defunct (latterman, gatsbys american dream) other than my against me one. That said I'm getting PiB ink on Friday. That also said, if you love them now, the tattoo will just mean you love them now, regardless of whether they turn shit or not.

You're either talking about a a huge backpiece or a shitty laptop.

Buy the laptop, for heaven's sake. Gaslight put out their first album under two years ago, and they're terribly fashionably popular right now.. You DO NOT know yet whether you will love them that passionately even a year from now. Getting that tattoo would be just as dumb as marrying a girl after dating for a month. For all you know, it'll work out, but you've got the rest of your life. Wait until you're damn sure.

I've got a ton of stuff that Adam has drummed on. I support this guy in everything. The Moons were slow but decent, he took over drums FROM blake on that one. Whysall Lane was too much like Versus (for obvious reasons).

I'll take new stuff from him or blake, I don't want to see a Jawbreaker reunion (although I'd go if it showed up).

As much as I love Jawbreaker and the first Jets to Brazil record (Four Cornered Night and Perfecting Loneliness not so much) I would be interested in hearing what he would do now.

Jets only got better as they went along. ORD is good, but there is waaaaay too much effects pedal (it's worse than REM's Monster) and the lyrics to most of the spongs are too abstract for their own good. Their later stuff really showcased the entire band's talents and created something truly amazing and completely separate from Jawbreaker's sound, as well.

I totally disagree. Jets towards the end was an amalgamation of Randy Newman and The Beatles later material. That is NOT good in my book.

There were a few good songs on the last one, it just got to adult contemporary on me.

I view it as nods to early nineties indie-rock, The Who and Elton John (when he was good).

Also, the Beatles later material was their best stuff. Let It Be is an awesome record.

i think let it be is a lot weaker than the five (six if you count magical mystery tour, which is really a compilation) preceeding it. it wasn't finished and i think it sounds like it.

anyways, i think ORD is almost unquestionably blake's lyrical masterpiece. and musically i think it beats FCN and PL as well.

Well considering how nobody wants to talk about this story I will. I normally don't really like this kind of stuff... I grew out of it sometime during high school I guess. but stuff is actually alright. For some reason I can listen to it.
