Today we've got a new contest for the upcoming new full length from Rise Against. The band is gearing up for the release of their brand new album, The record is titled Appeal To Reason and is due out October 7, 2008. The grand prize includes a 160GB iPod, signed posters, a vinyl single and assorted swag. Two Runner ups will win a limited 7-inch, a poster and more swag.

I won a runner up prize once from the Bamboozle and Vagrant a few years ago. Someone from Vagrant called me and said I was getting one CD from every band on their roster. I got a box with 9 CD's in it.....turns out he meant every band on their roster that was playing Bamboozle that year. A promo copy of Crimson was in there, I think it's the only CD I actually listen to from that box.

Um....it was actually hosted on Hot Topic's site and you have to register with their site to be able to sign up for their contests but I never get any email from them so I'm guessing I had it unchecked. If I remember, I always check back and only sign up for the contests where I'm gonna win cash or something. I just got lucky that one time.

I just saw their new video and I think it's pretty fucked up.
I wonder which one of those buildings they blew up is HQ for the coporate record label that PAYS them. Hypocrites. If you really hate society so much, go move to a mud hut in Africa or something.

As an MSU Alum, it's nice to see Javon Ringer getting some love for the heisman trophy. That kid is a beast and I think defenses will have trouble stopping him all year. Though I know it's a long shot, almost impossible shot of him winning it due to the team he is on and all the good QB's playing..so far I would have to say on that list, he is the one player most important to his team.

Within the next month I'll be seeing The Loved Ones, Rancid, Rise Against & Friends, and the Bouncing Souls. Should be stoked, but a recent car accident, that came with a bad whiplash, and 3 trips a week for 4 weeks to the chiropractor means 0 moshing aloud for me. Not (fully) stoked.

I've heard their new cd. Rise Against is dead to me. In all honesty, i think this may be a bigger fuck you to the fans than new wave was. It's unbelievably awful, it sounds so ridiculously generic it's pathetic, Tim sounds like hes trying to emulate new found glory or something. This is no longer Rise Against, this is just another lame ass tv/radio friendly group with a generic sound. What the hell is with that acoustic song? FUCKING TERRIBLE!

I enjoy this band well enough, but I entered this mostly for the iPod. My girlfriend passed her old one down to me, and as much as I love her... there is something about carrying around an old-school 6GB Mini that is pink and has Bjork lyrics engraved on the back. "I'm a fountain of blood in the shape of a girl"... :(
