No Fun At All: “Reckless I Don't Wanna” and “Never Ending Stream”

Swedish skate-punk legends No Fun at All have posted two songs from their upcoming album and first full-length in eight years. The album titled Low Rider is due to be released November 14, 2008 (November 21, 2008 in Europe) on the band's own label Beat 'Em Down Records.

You can find "Reckless I Don't Wanna" and "Never Ending Stream" on their myspace page.

The band's final release State of Flow was released on Burning Heart Records in 2000, however, the band broke-up the following year, though has been doing more and more reunion shows in recent years.

actually, their postmodern section is more like...80's synth pop. morrissey, crowded house, general public, REM, that kind of thing.

but the stuff she's into is the more obscure, more punky arty kind of stuff, and less mainstream...

my middle name is matthew. one time, when we moved to a new school, the counselor/teacher asked what i'd like to be called. on a whim, i said "matthew." not really for any reason than to just fuck shit up. this was in the first grade, by the way. of course, the counselor took me to my classroom, and told everyone my name was matthew, as if that's what i liked to be called. how should she know?
so, everyone--teachers, kids, everyone at school--was calling me matthew.

then came parent/teacher conferences. i went with my parents to my teacher's room, showed them some artwork, and then sat down.

as the teacher started out with: "so, matthew is doing well in our class, but sometimes has a hard time focusing and staying on task..."
my parents looked at each other, then looked at me, then looked at the teacher. "um...our son's name is joshua."
then they turn to me and ask if i'd like to be called matthew at home.

the jig was up. i felt bad for not telling my parents, and felt bad that i had somehow fooled my teachers into calling me by my middle name. in retrospect, it's not a huge deal, but at the time, i felt like i was some kind of double agent whose secret identity was out in the open. like michael j fox at the end of secret of my success.

anyway, i decide to not offend my parents (wtf? they picked my middle name, too...) and be called josh. the next monday at school, when the teacher called on "josh", all the kids in the class were like "who the fuck is josh? that's matt over there."

then the kids were just confused for the rest of the year.

Somewhere in West Philadelphia , you will find an old basketball court with a single ball lying in the middle. Pick it up and start shooting hoops. After a while, a small group of hooligans will approach you and challenge you to a fight, which you must accept.

After the fight, you must go home and relay the events to your mother. She will then inform you that you have an aunt and uncle living in one of the districts of Los Angeles, and out of fear, she will send you to live there for an indefinite period of time.

With your bags packed, go to the street corner, and whistle for a cab. The cab that will pull up will bear the word FRESH on the license plate, and upon closer inspection, novelty fuzzy dice will hang in the mirror. Although you will suddenly realize that cabs like these are extremely hard to find, do not bear any thought to it. At this point you MUST point out in front of the car and say 'Yo homes to Bel Air'. You will stop in front of a mansion, and it will be sometime between 7 and 8 o'clock, even though it will feel like you've been traveling mere seconds. Get your luggage out and say 'Yo homes, smell ya later!', but do NOT turn back to face the cabby. Walk up to the door, look over your shoulder once, and then knock on the door three times.

If you follow these instructions, your life will get flip-turned upside-down.

McRad are awesome. I got absolutely shitfaced when I saw them a couple months back and they totally ripped it up. I don't know how many original members it was, or anything, but don't pass 'em up if you get the chance.
