Break-ups: The Fad (2000-2008)

Ska/punk outfit The Fad have called it a day. According to a blog entry written by vocalist Jimmy Doyle, contributing factors include the destruction of their van and trailer, as well as the varying goals of the members.

The band released Kill Punk Rock Stars this year.

Everyone was asleep when it happened. I didn't want to wake up. Moments before I was sleeping so deeply. I was annoyed. I woke to the sound of my friends screaming, various expletives, inarticulate gasps, the sensation of spinning, and the sound of crashing inside and outside the bus. My eyes opened to blackness. I immediately pressed my hands and feet into the roof of my bunk as hard as I could, bracing for what I did not know.

These guys were really just the best. Best dads to tour with, and best guys to take care of you on the road. Doyle got me so drunk I broke my foot last Long Island show we did with them.

Doyle was always high, j lo loves asians, cody sucks at being a merch guy, ricky is underage, and danny is an old man.

Their new demos were even better than the last LP.

Im bummed.

So, I went to the NFL match at Wemberley yesterday and while it was pretty awesome for those of us in the UK, i'm interested what you guys on the other side of the pond think? Is this international series welcomed or is it a money grab?

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It doesn't really bother me because my team (Tennessee Titans) has too small of a market to get picked for this type of promotion. I dislike how the NFL pedals high scoring/crappy defense football instead of defensive struggle football. I regard the latter as the more interesting, but I'm in the minority.

That is pretty interesting though. Are you a football fan or were you just curious or was it just something to do? Where do you think most of the crowd fell on that spectrum? And did they seem to find it entertaining? I have no problem with the league trying to expand. It has been a pretty tough sell overseas though so I think it will take a long time. That seemed like a pretty good game to feature if you're going to send one across the pond though.

well I picked up on the NFL about 2 years ago properly. The Sunday matches run from about 6pm through to about 4 am so it's perfect sunday evening entertainment. Also the whole structure is a real appeal, the premier league is pretty boring is as much as it is far from an even playing field.

Wemberley was full (that's about 90,000) and there was a real mix of Americans who had come over for the came, Americans living in the UK, casual fans and die-hards. Just about every team was represented in the crowd and the guy next to me who had flown over from Colorado said that made it a lot less intense than at match at say the superbowl.

I find it interesting because the premier league has proposed 'game 39' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_39) which would take place overseas and has

Wow that is interesting. I haven't heard of many people overseas really becoming fans. Superbowl is probably a bad example for that point just cause that is mostly just the rich people who can afford $5000 tickets and not so much joe bago'donuts blue collar fanatic guy haha.

If these guys would have put as much time into writing good songs as they did talking shit about the town they were in, they might have been a good band.
Don't wonder why the kids aren't dancing to your shitty band when you spend a good portion of your set talking shit about their town. Good riddance.

I set up a show for them in Chicago with Bomb the Music Industry and they spent the better part of their set talking shit about Chicago and how it and it's food is inferior to New York. Once over half the audience said "fuck this" and went outside, they started crying about how no one was dancing. Lame.

Haha... We played a show in Northwestern PA with them. Jimmy Doyle wore an Islanders jersey and started talking shit hoping to piss off some Penguins fans. Of course, they had not gotten Sydney Crosby yet, so no one cared.

dayuuummm, i thought theyd be around for a while
