As many have noted, MTV doesn't play videos anymore, focusing instead on reality shows and other types of content, but the channel does still boast arguably the largest collection of music videos anywhere. Today, the channel announced the launch of MTV Music, a YouTube-styled site which will eventually feature the company's entire catalog of music videos.
As of today, there are 16,000 videos, "Unplugged" performances and exclusive MTV concert footage. Sadly, the site maintains MTV's habit of regional restrictions meaning it is impossible to stream the videos outside of the United States. While every video is not available yet, the site has pages full of videos for artists like Bad Religion, Rancid, Blink-182, New Found Glory, Less Than Jake, AFI, Sick of It All and many more. You can check it out here. Television (54 comments)

Is there any way to get around those regional restrictions? Not for this, but i would like to watch Late Night with Conan O'Brien (and the Tonight Show once he takes over Leno) 1+ Reply

Does anyone have a high-res picture of the back of the 59 Sound? I need it for a college project I'm working on but all my physical albums are back at my mom's house. 2+ Replies

Is this site easily navigable or will we have to sit through 8 minutes of commercials for a 3 minute video? 1+ Reply

So wait... if MTV doesn't air videos anymore, do artists still make videos for their songs? Or is that a forgotten art? If no one is showing videos, then how do high school kids know what to listen to? God I'm so old... and slow... 1+ Reply

mtv now stands for more television vomiting. if they produce one more show about some chick going to new york or l.a. or a show about dating, i will poop in an envelope and send that shit to them. instead of licking the envelope, i will piss on it. 1+ Reply

I guess that's cool? I don't really understand the whole concept of the music video. I mean, don't get me wrong, they are entertaining, but I just don't understand 'em. I would much rather see the band live or listen to my iPod. I don't need visual gratification to appreciate a band. Anyway, I guess MTV is finally realizing that stupid sweet sixteen parties and who Paris Hilton has for a BFF just isn't that interesting anymore.
Yeah MTV also has this thing they play in the morning, I just so happened to be on today when I was getting ready for school. Anyway. It's called FN MTV and it's their new way of showing music videos. Basically they pick out four popular videos and cut them up and play one section mingled with other sections of different videos over and over and over again. So, you only hear like a minute of the song and then it switches to another song. And show rest of comment
