Thursday finish mixing Epitaph debut

Thursday have wrapped up mixing on their forthcoming debut for Epitaph. The band twittered the announcement, saying only: "mixing is done. home from tarbox."

This month, the band released a Split [12 inch] with Japan's Envy and frontman Geoff Rickley spent some time with the controversial United Nations. They released their last proper studio album, A City by the Light Divided in 2006.

i don't know if Thursday signing to Epitaph restores some of Epitaph's integrity, or detracts from some of Thursday's. Signing to Epitaph these days seems like it carries more of a guaranteed stigma than signing to Island, or any major for that matter.

Why update this for the final mix? I'm much more interested in knowing when there's final proofs of the artwork or when the one-sheets are due. Is there a mastering date set yet?

Really? Like who? I hear about bands recording, setting release dates, touring, etc. But finishing the final mixes is a pretty mundane bit of news.

I know it was announced when Mastodon finished mixing. I don't think it's especially exciting news, but for a really anticipated album, such as this Thursday release and the upcoming Mastodon, people who follow the bands, find it interesting. It also builds anticipation.
I think you can also call releasing or announcing demo recordings could be called "mundane." Same goes with "so and so have started writing the follow up to blah blah blah."

I suppose it does build anticipation, which is why bands send out bulletins and shit to their fans. But this is, in my opinion, a proper news site, and not just a bathroom wall. There have been way worse offenders when it comes to this kinda thing, and truth be told I'm just whining here, but still, finishing up your mixing is not relevant news. Hell, it's not even juicy gossip, which is what we all REALLY want...

Thursday would be so much loved if it weren't for the fact they've only been on awful labels: Eyeball, Victory, Island, and now Epitaph. Just think if they had been on Ebullition or Level Plane, but put out exactly the same releases, they'd be considered, simply, the best ever.

i might have this entirely wrong, but i seem to remember reading about a band called Skrap or something like that who went to tony brummels office, roughed him up a bit, and got him to a sign a contract-release at knifepoint.

i have no idea if that's true, and i've probably got the band name wrong anyway, but if that did happen, that band are fucking legends.

Jesus Saves is one of the best metal songs ever. After you fully digest that album, both South of Heaven and Season In The Abyss are both incredible.

South of Heaven slows things down a little bit, but the songs writing is sooooo good, and it's not slowed down in a "Black Album" kinda way. Then Seasons.....despite Reign being their "classic" record, I think Seasons is all around their 'best' record.
