The band are clearly competent musicians, they know how to write a song and they seem sincere enough. One Small Step for Landmines is a diverse record, certainly, but sometimes it feels entirely too so, and a lack of certain characteristics that seem like they should be present hurts the presentation.

If you are going to do pop rock you damn well better do it justice, and with a big dollop of class. Thankfully …Landmines appear to have been fully aware of this most fundamental rule – unlike the vast majority of pretenders to the throne.

They could be categorized with the likes of current chart bands like Plain White T’s or Fall Out Boy, and their music is just as catchy. How OSSFL differentiate themselves from a genre that has more bands then we can list is that their tracks have a certain edge that just hovers in the background.

agreed. people should stop trying to be so incredibly clever all of the time, name their band "The (Someting or another)s" and not write songs with titles that take up 4 lines on the back cover...

and by the way, i'm totally cool with you naming your new band the something ro anothers. just make sure you credit "some cynical fool on punknews" in the liner notes

They're re-releasing it in IMAX in January
