No Postal Service in the works, says Ben Gibbard

Despite the wild success of the group's debut,Give Up, The Postal Service is apparently not raring for a new album. The duo, which features Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and Jimmy Tamborello of dntel, are apparently not really that interested in working on it for the forseeable future. Gibbard told Rolling Stone:

It's the record that never seems to want to come out. It's also just never been a priority for either Jimmy [Tamborello, Postal Service co-founder] or myself. The anticipation of the second record has been a far bigger deal for everybody except the two of us.

There never really was a plan to do a second album. We work from time to time together but we have other things that take up all of our time.

Transatlancicism is a pretty cool album. This coming from someone who ALMOST lacks the attention span to sit through a Black Flag song.

i agree. I'm not really a fan of Death Cab at all - i liked the Postal Service first. But my sister got Transatlanticism and that was actually really good. I got a couple other records - Photo Album or whatever its called, and when Plans came out my friend burned it for me - but neither stuck me at all. So for you anti-Death Cab fans, give Transatlanticism a try.

I think a lot of people are in this boat. Although I don't hate Death Cab since I pretty much grew up with friends that worshiped them from the start, Postal Service is way better, sans mulleted UPS man.

I thought the Postal Service was pretty cool actually, for just chilling or driving or something else calm. The tracks were pretty creative. I knew Ben Gibbard was capable of some unique rock instrumentation and the electronica stuff was pretty original as well.

Just make this shitty movie and say 'based on the story Farewell to the Master' like the original did. Big problem is that it isn't based on it. In fact I don't see a similarity. Just make up your own title like Space-Fuckers or something.

Oh yeah I will definitely wait it out as well, even if I had a job I wouldn't see this movie, maybe on Netflix I will. Wolverine is going to be rad though, but I'm a bit wary of the overloading of characters.

Ryan Reynolds is the perfect guy to play Deadpool. I hope the spin off really happens, not because I want to see a deadpool movie perse, but because maybe then Marvel will FINALLY put out the complete Joe kelly run in trade or Omnibus.

Sawyer turned them down. he said Gambit was too close a character to Sawyer and he didn't want to be type cast.

Pretty much every number three superhero/comic book movie sucked. Look a the list:

X-Men 3
Spider-Man 3
Superman 3
Batman Forever
Blade 3
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3

All so much worse than 1 and 2 *+(and in most cases, 2 was the best).

It seems that 1 knocks out the origin story, 2 they delve deeper and flesh out the character(s) and world, and then 3 they decide to just start throwing a ton of shit in there and skip out on a decent story because they know people are going to show up regardless.

Sometimes they don't EVER get it right. The Punisher has had 3 chances to adapt the easiest one and failed (for different reasons) at every chance. Tom Jane had the right attitude, the movie was just eaten up with too much stupid shit...and Travolta.
