Videos: Polar Bear Club: "Ten Minutes (Get Up Kids)"

A fan recorded some video of Polar Bear Club performing the Get Up Kids favorite, "Ten Minutes" live. The original track comes from the Get Up Kids' Something To Write Home About. That album will celebrate its tenth anniversary next year.

PBC are touring in support of Sometimes Things Just Disappear.

it's pretty decent. i wish they had made it their own, but it's pretty dead on for a cover, but with better vocals.(sorry Matt Pyrors voice bugs me)

Jim Suptic voice bugs you? Matt Pryor didn't sing this song. Though in later years, Matt sung it live.

That's probably my favorite song on On a Wire. His other song on that album is godawful.

I would have preferred "Graduate," but they played this the first day of tour in Syracuse, and it was awesome.

i know jim sings this song, i meant in general. I actually prefer jim's voice, and i prefer his work in Black pool lights way more than the get up kids(minus the woodson ep)

as far as third eye blind covers go though, i wish they'd do "jumper".

apparently some girl came into the store yesterday asking for me because i had "sometimes things just disappear" under my employee recommendation. that was an hour before i actually came in. d'oh.

The Get Up Kids were a great band. Polar Bear Club is a great band. I can get behind this video.

They played this in Baltimore and the song almost had the best crowd response of their whole set. This has been a good year for upstate New York.

Which city is this from? I can't watch it at work, either, so I can't tell. I saw them play it in MI, and it came off awesome. They told me before their set that it had been getting the best response of any song on tour. That wasn't the case at the MI show though, because the crowd (at least up front where I was) was WAY into every song they played. It was the most fun I've had in a long long time, and I even managed to escape without any bruises. My glasses even only got knocked off my head once, and I performed a Ripken-like mid-air grab to save them from sure smashing.

It's pretty cool to me that all these kids in the 18-21 range (appearance based) knew all the words to "Ten Minutes" though. It's crazy to think most of them were probably not even in middle school when I saw TGUK perform it live when they toured for STWHA.

so i heard most miserable life and thought these guys might be my new favorite band. since then ive heard like 2 other songs and they were slow and boring. whats the deal with these guys? should i persue further?

exactly. that EP is something else. It took me a while to appreciate some of the filler songs on the full length. But Eat Dinner, Bury the Dog, and Run, Hollow Place, The Bug Parade, Burned Out In A Jar, Our Ballads, and Convinced I'm Wrong are easy stand outs.

Wow. I can't believe that Something to Write Home About is going to be 10 years old. I remember buying it the day it came out and then doing my math homework while listening to it.

The Get Up Kids were real good up to that album.
