Marseilles, France's The Hatepinks have announced US tour dates up and down the west coast. The band last released Tete Malade / Sick in the Head in 2007 through TKO Records.

OK, so I was suspended from my job on Saturday (I'm a butcher and Union Member) because somehow, a latex glove fell into the grinder and was minced and mixed into the ground beef. It was so finely ground, there w no way to tell it even happened. So, the next day, someone brought the meat back, with minced glove in it and complained. Since I was the only one who did the grind that day, I was suspended, even though it wasn't my fault and there was no proof that I physically put that glove into the grinder. I filed a grievance along with my union rep towards the store for wrongfully suspending me and now the store says that they want to move forward with termination. There was no documentation or signing of any sort to commence my suspension. My union rep says they cannot legally terminate me because I am on suspension and there is no proof. (although I'm sure, should I still manage to keep my job, I am sure they would look for any little reason to fire me after this.. not that I want to keep working there.) I was two weeks away from taking leave since my wife is already entering her ninth month of being pregnant and I feel like I'm being singled out because a) I'm the only hispanic in the shop b) the store manager has been talking about cutting costs anyway that he can.

I am pissed.... anyone have any suggestions or anything like this happen to anyone?

That fucking sucks man, who doesn't like a little glove in their meat? You should have said, 'nice, you complain about a glove but you don't say anything about the rats mixed up in there'.

Yet again, that sucks and its a bad time to be out of a job, hope it all works out.

If Billy Bragg and Mike McColgan were as accessible as Max Bemis and you had $150 and some local art students who know things about paper mache...but seriously, I'd just keep the process going as long as possible until you can enjoy the kid for a couple of weeks and find something else. Its pretty tough going regarding finding jobs so I'd let the union do their thing since you pay for it and use their resources until something else can be found.

If you've got a good union rep, then that's a good start. I know when I was in a union, we had a president who didn't back down to any level of management. Other than that, go with what you know. There was no formal initiation of your suspension. There was no proof that you did it and it wasn't your fault. Also, one mistake shouldn't justify termination - nor should grieving your suspension. If all else fails, and they do wind up firing you, it sounds likely you could take them to court for wrongful dismissal. In Canada, they won't usually reinstate you to your old position/company, but they will make the employer pay you a certain sum of money. Not sure about elsewhere in the world, though. Just remember that if the company is threatening to take away your "livelihood" (especially with a little one on the way) that it's not unreasonable to try to take your employer to the cleaners for what it's worth. Either way man, good luck to ya!

That really sucks man. This economy is fucked up, so I'd try and get back in, at least for the mat leave. I really don't know anything about unions, but would they be able to place you in another shop? Or could you apply at another shop? The tension alone would make me not want to go back.

That's usually why, in a wrongful dismissal case, the court won't put you back in your old position with the company that wrongfully dismissed you. But good call about seeing if the union could find you a position elsewhere.

Chad. you are likely out of luck. your profile says you are in SF. California is an at-will employment state, which means an employer can essentially fire you for anything/or nothing for that matter. Unless you can prove some kind of discrimination, or can prove you had some kind of recognizable contract that overrides the cart-blanch at-will relationship, there isn't much you can do. if you have a contract with the employer, see if there is anything about arbitration or something to that effect, though I doubt it'll have it in your case. You can also look to your employee handbook to see if you have any recourse, as those are considered binding on behalf of the employer's obligations. good luck.

Remember when Doghouse rereleased Forever And Counting not too long ago and No Idea were resellers for it? I can't believe I missed it. Does anyone know where I can get the CD for it right now? Besides Amazon... it's $16. :(

There's that. I do have it downloaded, but the quality isn't too great.

Which is what I love about CDs. I can rip at 320 MP3 for my MP3 player in the car. Or even FLAC for when I feel like listening to music at lossless quality on my computer.

But I guess the download I have right now will do.

I love most everything they did, but as consecutive albums go, it's hard (although possible) to beat 'Fuel for the Hate Game' followed by 'Forever and Counting'.
