Hey Mercedes' Bob Nanna and Damon Atkinson form new band

Bob Nanna (Braid, Hey Mercedes, The City On Film) has announced that he has formed a new band with drummer Damon Atkinson. The two previously played together in Hey Mercedes. While little information is currently available, the announcement was made via Twitter here.

I always thought this Bob guy's vocals sounded so much like J. Robbins from Jawbox. Then I found it weird to see that he had produced some of their stuff.

i fucking love braid's stuff ("frame and canvas" is a masterpiece), but i've yet to check out hey mercedes.

didn't damon atkinson drum for braid at some point though? or was that a different damon...?

Hey Mercedes is pretty cool, but the drumming on all the albums is a serious step down in creativity from Frame and Canvas, and the lack of Braid's second guitarist makes the dynamics seem less intense. Otherwise, they basically sound like Braid.

Same Damon. I remember seeing Braid in 98 and being blown away by his drumming. To me, Hey Mercedes didn't sound anything like Braid aside from Bob's voice. They had a bigger guitar sound and poppier songs.

Damon Atkinson was the second drummer of Braid....he also was the replacement drummer for Saves the Day for a tour.

good news, i take this to mean Bob is healthy? last i remember hearing about him he had cancer or something. i was hoping for another Braid tour after that one with Murder By Death and Minus the Bear but alas it never came about.

Sometimes it's a toss up between Braid and Hey Mercedes for me. I know it's blasphemy in some circles, but there are certain times where Hey Mercedes really scratch me where I itch. It's probably crabs, but I don't care.
