The Loved Ones announce tracklisting for upcoming EP

The Loved Ones have posted a track listing for their upcoming EP. The record is titled Distractions and is due out February 3, 2009. The disc appears to include covers of songs from Bruce Springsteen ("Johnny 99"), Billy Bragg ("Lovers Town Revisited") and Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros ("Coma Girl.")

I have a feeling Spy Diddly will be the only song I like from this release. that is unless they changed it to sound more "Americana-esque"

I'm not sure if your basing that on liking the title more than the rest for whatever reason or if your basing that on already having heard it and stating that while it's good, they can't produce anymore good songs?

But if, in fact, you are yet to hear that song, it's the only one that's available to you have the chance. Just google the Fat Christmas comp from a couple of years ago, it was on that.

well, if he's worried they changed it one might safely assume he has heard it... plus that song is a couple years old now, so there is a good chance they did in fact rerecord it...

100K. I love that song, picked up the EP and didn't like any other songs. Heard most of the first record, same thing. Never felt the need to listen to them outside of that tune.

No, not that. I mean my favorite band of all time is the Ramones so I have no problem at all with poppy stuff, nothing else these guys ever did grabbed me. And come on, 100K is about as poppy as you can get.

Agreed, it sounds like it belongs on Keep Your Heart. Which is kinda a sandwhich album for me. First track-great, last track - great. Somewhere in the middle I get bored for 3 songs or so.

Stoked, even though Spy Diddley was on that free Fat comp in winter '06, meaning there's only 2 "new" songs. I've never heard their covers, but I've been a huge fan of this band since their first EP, so I'm sure they'll be good.

i thought these guys were a pop punk band. at least they used to be. then it became cool to claim americana and roots country as influences, and now these guys are doing that?

Sorry but I have to repeat myself once again......... The punx have ALWAYS gotten along w/ old school country and americana (except for bands like AF who hate anything to do w/ America). Johnny Cash and "outlaw country" have ALWAYS been popular in the punk scene. It may be true that more bands have been incorporating these influences into their music in a more direct way than before, but these influences have always been there.

It's the natural progression of bands trying to keep their sound somewhat fresh by incorporating more diverse influences into their music. Otherwise, you guys would bagging on them for being Pennywise et al. and releasing the same album 12 times.

yes, punk and old school country have always had a kinship. but the loved ones haven't. i just wish they'd do something a little less obvious and cliche.

I didn't know Joe Strummer was old school country... huh... go figure. You people slamming the country references are re tard ed. Loved Ones last record had a lot of country influences on there but yet still sounded "punk" the whole time. Don't worry what influences are there is long as the songs are good. Amirite? Besides they put up Distractions online already and that is definitely not country, so calm down.

"Distracted" is very, very good. I really liked it anyways. However, just by the way their way their sound keeps evolving it wouldn't come as a surprise if one day these guys make it big. Not that that's bad, but still, just saying.
