Fugitive in Dallas Cook (Suburban Legends) hit and run extradited to the US

After hiding out in Korea for two years, the South Korean national who killed Dallas Cook of Suburban Legends in an alcohol-related crash is being extradited to the United States. Youn Bum Lee, who was an executive with Hyundai, has been arrested in South Korea on a fugitive warrant signed by an Orange County judge and will be returned to Orange County later this week.

Lee, 41, was charged in 2007 with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs with injury, and hit-and-run with injury or death in connection with the death of Ryan Dallas Cook, 23, of Huntington Beach. Cook's family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Lee, and against for the Hyundai Motor America in Fountain Valley and Hyundai Motor Finance Co. and several company executives, accusing them of helping Lee flee the country to avoid prosecution.

Cook was killed in 2005 in the tragic accident.

So, I was driving on Wednesday down 95th Street (big-ass, popular, main street), and this pick-up truck comes flying out of who-knows-where and just fucking NAILS the car in front of me. I've seen video of horrible wrecks, I've seen dozens and dozens of fender-benders, side-swipes, etc., but have NEVER seen a collision this fucking powerful. Both cars went fucking airborne. Shit just flew EVERYWHERE! (my car got hit with tons of debris), the truck spun in a complete circle like 4 times, and the victim car (nissan?) flipped over upside-down. I slammed on my brakes as hard as I good (thank whatever there was no one immediately behind me), and stopped, literally, 6 inches from hitting the pick-up. I immediately pulled out my phone and dialed 911, and jumped out of my car and ran to the truck. I opened the dudes door, and he was leaning over on the seat with blood all over his head, and I started yelling "HEY! HEY! YOU ALIVE! HEY!", and he slowly sat up (another witness ran to the other car). I had an ambulance on the way, and the dude kept saying "i hit the brakes all the way to the floor man, nothing happened!"... At this point his truck was basically in 2 pieces, and gas/oil/fluid/everything was fucking everywhere. The lady he hit eventually got out of her flipped car, and she was bleeding a bit too. The cops sped up, ambulances arrived, I was immediately approached by a cop. As soon as he walked up I noticed out of the corner of my eye, there were some Steel Reserve cans by the pick-up. I said "fucking shithead", and the cop got pissed for a second and said "EXCUSE ME!", and I just pointed to the cans. "Oh... alright". Gave my name, what happened, and left... still shaking.
Car accident, near-miss, bloody victims, crying lady, drunk 18-year-old white-trash moron. It was a fucked-up half hour.

Fuck drunk drivers.

Oh yeah, with his quote: "I hit the brakes all the way to the floor man, nothing happened", and after noticing the Steel Reserve, thinking about where he could've come from (either a side street with a 20mph limit, or a parking lot), there is NO WAY he hit the brakes... drunk dipshit hit the fucking gas.

I lost a friend earlier this month to a drunk driver who rear-ended him at 75 MPH and blew nearly a .3 after the wreck.

He's only potentially getting a max of 3-4 years on vehicular manslaughter, if convicted by a jury.

Talk about bullshit. Drunk driving laws are in dire need of a rewrite.

I'm so glad he got caught. Seriously, the best news of the year. It was hard enough dealing with Dallas's death, but knowing this dude was still out there living and free, made it worse.

Some bands think it's a better idea to adapt then disappear. In this case, not so much.

Yeah, I was pretty into them in high school. They were fun. Now I can't take them even listen to a second of anything they've done since Romp Shaker. Pretty sure it had to do with the death of Dallas and the lead singer leaving.
