San Francisco-based metalcore outfit Light This City have posted a screamy cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Born To Run." The band had this to say:

During the "Stormchaser" recording sessions, we decided "What he hell, we should cover the boss". So we did. Given all the hype around him right now with the superbowl, his new album, etc we decided to show you how we paid our respects to Bruce. C

The current wave of bands that call themselves 'core appeal to 14 year olds.

None of the bands me or mikexdude mentioned called themselves metalcore. It's a term that was made up to try to describe them, until some fuckers decided it sounded cool and decided to call their shitty wannabe hardcore band the same thing.

When I worked at a convenience store, we were supposed to card anyone who looked under 25 for tobacco. I'd card everyone I saw in an Underoath (or similar band) t-shirt, because I figured there was no way they were over 19 if they listened to them.

I saw Bruce last year. I was working at the stadium he played, and I gotta tell ya... guy should really start writing some original stuff. Nearly every song was a Gaslight Anthem cover. Except for one Buzzcocks cover he did.

I had this friend when I was in High School who knew this band pretty well. She was about 16 or 17 at the time and she basically fucked everybody in this band (including the chick).

That said... As if Metal isn't bad enough, they have to go and do something like this?

I (unlike most of the people here) can look past the fact that there certainly is a trend of awful Boss covers circulating within the past few days... But in a way you can certainly appreciate the effort. But this band pretty much takes the cake. I can shit out a better cover than that.

P.S.
People that give a fuck about 5 minute guitar solo's and endless double-bass are stoked.
