Reprise plans vinyl for Green Day's Lookout-era material

Reprise has unveiled plans to reissue some of Green Day's independent releases on vinyl this March. Both 39/Smooth and Kerplunk! will be reissued on March 24, 2009.

CD reissues of the albums were released in 2007. These vinyl releases are some of the first vinyl versions of the albums since Warner/Reprise officially took over the band's back catalogue after Green Day pulled their catalogue from Lookout! in 2005.

I still don't think it will be anywhere close to Alpha 3 or Third Strike. I'll still give it a chance though.

Yeah, Alpha was awesome but Third Strike was the best. I really liked the parrying system and the new generation characters.

I don't think I've played a Dreamcast since 2001 when my dog pissed on a controller cord and one of my brothers plugged it in and ruined it. All of this Street Fighter stuff recently has made me buy a new DC with Jet Grind Radio, Shenmue and Third Strike.

It's hard to believe Lookout Records fucked themselves up so much. They treated these records as if they were their cash cow... and deserved to fail.

You really got to look that they had some releases early on that were an epic gold mine. I think they just kept hoping that something else would hit like that and nothing did.

Yep, they had Green Day, Operation Ivy, Screeching Weasel, Queers, MTX, man they were the pop-punk goldmine. I'd love to have seen their business map.

Taking your releases from a failed indie to a major label seems like an awesome way to ensure you get paid your royalties.

Ummm most people probably got those on vinyl already the Lookout! LP's still appear on ebay for cheap, but still it's wise to keep it in print i guess. How about re-pressing Nimrod so people don't have to pay $130 for a copy? or even Shenanigans? These both go for serious money.

By the way, The Murder City Devils show in Pomona was sexellent!

I am just too stoked to not mention it.

$40 for a hoodie though seemed steep....$20 for a poster....eh, worth it. They were million times better than their 2001 "final" tour.
