Waxwing but asking me to pit Rocky and Walter is like asking a parent to choose between their children.

Rocky and Walter are great songwriters but I think their best work lies elsewhere for both of them. Why did I pick Waxwing then? The album "Nobody Can Take What Everybody Owns" is just really fucking fantastic throughout, I find the other albums to be a little less even. With Rival Schools teh record has some great moments but there are some songs that are forgettable and I think Walter gets a little too what I like to call "alterna rock cheese" on a few songs.

They recorded a whole second album that was never released and is floating around the net.

Also between Quicksand and Rival Schools Walter had a band World's Fastest Car that recorded an 8 song demo that is floating around the net that is pretty good but not the best quality. They also recorded an EP for Revelation apparently that never saw the light of day.

Seeing as I've been to 3 of Waxwings final shows.....Waxwing.

Two of my favorite bands are on Victory (The Tossers and Streelight) so I'll have to say Epitaph, as they don't have much to offer save for BR.

If you count Anti, Victory is much worse.

If not it's close but still Victory. Converge, BR and Gallows aren't terrible.

Depends where you live. I live in LA. The only No Idea item I can find anywhere, including mom and pop shops, is Against Me!'s Reinventing Axl Rose, and even that is rare. But I could find plenty of Asian Man release. Heck, even Best Buy carries plenty of Asian Man releases around here. That's even where I got a couple of my Screeching Weasel cd's.

On the whole thing about being a band on principles and give it all away, you don't understand that for many of these bands (at least the more popular ones), they are attempting to make a career out of their music. Some even have wives and children. You can't make enough money to support a family on the donatoins of punk fans. I know a lot of bands don't look at their music as their main source of income, but I'm not talking about The Sandwiches here. I'm sure most of the people signed to labels like Side One Dummy and Fat Wreck Chords depends on their music to make their money.

So while it's nice to say "I'll put it all out their for free just so I could be heard", I have to ask in return, have you even moved out of your parents house yet?

I know, but people still aren't buying merch. I know, I know, you buy your shirts and your records whenever you can, me too buddy. But think about it, when you go to a show, how many people to you see buying shirts and records and stuff compared to the number of people who attend. Not even close to a close amount. And how do you think a band would feel when they play a show just weeks before their album gets released, yet, people are singing along to the new songs. And while some of us do get the record when it comes out, realisticly, most people do not.

8 Had Motion City Soundtrack and Matchbook and Hip Hop and was - despite some acceptable material - generally pretty much full of fail. Also it was a double CD, which is normally another indicator of advanced shark jumping.
