Sublime "reunion" this month?

Rumours abound that some version of Sublime will be reuniting on February 28th at Cantino Los Tres Hobres in Nevada. The venue lists the show as "S*blime" and Bud Gaugh (of Sublime) notes:

VERY VERY special guests performing. Trust us, you will kick yourself in the ass with spiked steel-toe boots if you miss this show.

Last year, a slide show on The Bamboozle's official website also hinted at a reunion. Although Sublime effectively dissolved after the death of vocalist Bradley Nowell in May of 1996, sources have reported that the surviving members of the band have been working with a new vocalist

Yeah, including at least two albums under the name "Long Beach Dub All-Stars". It's ridiculous to call anything these guys do going forward "Sublime". Brad's dead. You're not in Sublime anymore, you're either in another band or you're not. Case closed.

what made sublime work, especially live, was that there were three guys who had been playing together for as long as they were playing music...they could anticipate each other's next moves and new each other's style inside and out. they can find someone else to sing and play guitar, but they'll never find someone who fits in that well with them.

for some reason, sublime comes off way less frat-boyish to me than rip-off bands like pepper and the expendables.

I saw them when he was still alive. I didn't like their brand of crap then, I didn't like it when everybody started drooling all over them nor did I have a change of heart when the surviving dudes renamed their band and churned out more garbage.

they were good though. musically, that is. whether you like them or not is another story, but i have almost all of their bootlegs and unreleased material, and those guys could play. mike watt raves about them on the stories, tales, lies, and exaggerations DVD.

That is not a correct statement. You may not like them, but Brad was the most talented singer and guitarist in the history of ska (or a band to play in the realm of ska rather). Anyway they made some really great songs that if a lot of people on this site heard, they would enjoy.

Name one who's better. And yes I'm counting Desmond Dekker and Toots in the argument. It's hard to compare the two since they have difference singing styles, but the fact remains that Brad's voice was amazing.

Either way, I disagree with you. The first satement was more correct than yours. Most talented singer and guitarist in the history of ska? You sir are out of goddamn mind. Maybe most overrated singer and guitarist in the history of ska. Sublime isn't even the best 90's ska band, not even talking about all of the ska from the 80's (which is all better).

I've always known it to be both. My reflexes are usually shitty so I forget to do it but when I think about it I flash for cops ahead and sometimes for the lights. I have been a little leary as of late after hearing about some stupid gang initiation that says to kill the first person who flashes their lights at you for driving without them on. I'm not cool with that at all haha.
