As they gear up for the release of their new album, The Ataris have begun twittering. The band has a profile here.

The band released Welcome the Night in 2007.

its stupid but might have its place.

i used it at fest 6 to save notes for different things/bands i saw

also its really useful for finding info. i was at a hacker conference a few weeks ago, and a lot of people there were twittering where the free booze is, and what talks were worth listening to. that sort of thing.

i've heard of people using it in disaster-type situations too.

its not all bad, its just annoying how over the past month or two everyones doing it. even npr.

Twitter IS stupid, I really don't understand it. Are people that arrogant to where they actually think people want to know what they are doing every minute of the day? And are you really that bored that you want to know? LAME!

if twitter is the thing where you can send mass text messages, its cool as fuck. we use mass text messages to coordinate actions at protests without drawing attention to anyone

Man. I used to love the ataris. I got a copy of the first pressing of "...Anywhere but Here" signed by the third or fourth incarnation.

I was pretty disappointed by "So Long Astoria" and never checked out their last one.

Maybe I'm just too old for this anymore.
