Dakota Fanning, Kristin Stewart in Runaways movie

Variety is reporting some casting information about the new film about influential female punk act The Runaways.

Producers Art and John Linson will be bringing their story to the bigs creen as Neon Angels. The film will concern the lives of members Joan Jett, Cherie Currie and the late Sandy West. An unpublished memoir written by lead singer Curie will be used as source material for a drama that intends to bare all the drugs, sex and heartache experienced by girls who "struggled to be viewed as musicians, not sex kittens with guitars."

Dakota Fanning has been cast as Cherie Currie and she joins Kristen Stewart of Twilight who will play Joan Jett. Like Fanning, Currie was only 15 when she joined the Runaways.

if i gave a shit about the Runaways, i'd try to fathom some semblence of an opinion but, you know...

come on dude. LA in the 70s and 80s produced more great punk rock than any other city in the country.

also, i love big black, but i can't imagine a biopic about them. i'd much rather see a porno... "people fucking set to the songs from songs about fucking"

The Germs were so-so. Not a bad band, but WAYYYYYYYYY the fuck overrated. If Darby Crash hadn't killed himself off I would have finished the job. What a turd.

i've always seen them as the first true punk band in the sense of really not being able to play their instruments and just being fucking awful but still writing great songs.

i love the ramones, but they could play to a certain extent....maybe not solos and fancy shit, but they could at least play together sound cohesive where as the germs were just some high school kids doing drugs and having loads of fun fucking with people.

It only concerns the lives of 3 members and Lita Ford isn't one of them? I mean yeah her solo work was insufferable, but aside from Joan Jett she was the only original member who anyone gave a flying fuck about after the band.
