311 to release "Uplifter" in June

311 have set a release date for their next album. The record is titled Uplifter and is due out June 2, 2009. The band recorded with Bob Rock (Metallica, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith) at the band's Hive Studio in North Hollywood.

The album is their first since 2005's Don't Tread On Me and a deluxe edition will feature a bonus DVD documentary with interviews, backstage footage and live performances, follows the band and their fans for the week leading up to the "3-11 Day" concert in New Orleans in 2008.

Their cover of Love Song absolutely ruined that song for me. Every time I put on Disintegration I have to skip that track.

On a side note: The other day my CEO was talking about upcoming shit, and he's like "Ok, so we have 3/9 covered. What about 3/11? Good band by the way". The only thing I could do was agree. I'm such a tool.

311, great band. they don't get enough credit I think. the Blue Album and Grassroots were on my CD all the time back in my college days. Love these guys.

That's pretty wild, I didn't know you could get blimps to go up that high.

Really, I can't think of more efficient aircraft to do that kind of thing though. It requires little fuel compared to a jet or a helicopter, and it's much less expensive (and offers better imaging, evidently) than deploying a satellite.

There was actually discussion in Popular Mechanics a few years back about blimps being brought back and used to ship freight. Apparently they can carry a lot of weight and travel at a high enough altitude so as not to interfere with passenger aircraft.

It was strange reading the article you posted.

Dear 311,

What do you have against people's ears? You all have ears, yet you still keep putting out music. Is this some kind of sick twisted joke? I mean, we all have mouths, but we don't try & put shit in them, so why do you keep trying to pump your shit into our ears? Just a thought.

Especially when it comes to shit bands. Shit bands being The Blood Brothers. That being said, you have to give The Blood Brothers props for being musical magicians. Somehow that band was able to dupe a shitload of people into liking them. Just like TV on the Radio.
