Media: The Vindictives plan new release for April

Chicago's The Vindictives have announced plans to release a new full length. The record is titled Songs the Bug Doctor Wrote and is due out April 22, 2009.

The Many Moods of the Vindictives is one of the best pop-punk records ever. Hypno-Punk wasn't the greatest, but I'm glad they are still cranking things out.

I will be all over this.

Their Ramones cover album is amazing too, my favorite in that series. More punk should be this snotty.

Did you get the acoustic record?

Their Ramones record is incredible, its up there with Boris the Sprinkler as favorites in the series, simply because they made them their own.

I sure do have the acoustic record, but I much prefer them electric. It's worth a listen if you haven't, but not a must own thing in my opinion. Also, I prefer the Original Masters versions over Many Moods.

I'm going to listen to so much Ramones when I get home.

the acoustic record is hilarious, as is muzak for robots. these guys are the only band i like more than the ramones, and i CAN'T WAIT for this to come out! i've been hearing "new vindictives" rumors for like two years now, finally the time is here!

I know! I saw the release date and had to recheck like 5 times before I believed it.

And here's to hoping they play any kind of shows. I would be more than willing to travel to see them.

i know this has nothing to do with the article but, its pop punk and they said bugs so....Is The Bugs album any good? i havent checked it out for some reason.

When they first announced this album (like last year), there was also a mention of touring for it. I hope it's still the plan.

Tour will never happen. Almost happened in the 90s and joey got weirded out and cancelled.

Calm down kids... This isn't really a new record. This is The Many Moods revisited. I think it's just re-recordings of the first EP's. But, give Hypno-Punko a chance. I didn't understand it at all at first, because I just wanted "The Many Moods" part II. I mean, hell, they do THAT so perfect! But I have listened to it more recently, and realized that They made a pretty damn intense, really well thought out album with Hypno-Punko. They were indeed a great band...

I think you're right. I've had my eye on this release for almost a year but details have been scare on the web. The best I can find now is a cached Google page from the label's old web site saying that it's a compilation of Many Moods and EPs.

I own a copy of everything this band has done on vinyl. Some of it straight from Joey V. himself. These guys are great. Good guys, one of the best punk bands ever.

Mark from Guttermouth circa Puke/Balls/Full Length era is right up there with Joey, and I love the hell out of them
