Sound and Fury 2009 with Betrayed, Ceremony, Cold World, Trash Talk, Title Fight

The first batch of bands have been confirmed for the Sound and Fury Festival 2009. The event ill take place July 31, August 1, and August 2, 2009 at the El Rodeo Community Centerin Oxnard, CA.

The initial lineup includes Betrayed, Ceremony, Cold World, Get the Most, Mammoth Grinder, Sabertooth Zombie, Title Fight, Trash Talk, Absolute Madness, Alpha and Omega, Bad Seed, Creatures, Crucified, Downpresser, Floorpunch, Gone But Not Forgotten, Hatred Surge, Knife Fight, Mind Eraser, Mindset, Mother of Mercy, On, Psyched To Die, Reign Supreme, Retaliate, Rotting Out, Skin Like Iron, Take Offense, Touche Amore, Trapped Under lce and Violation. More bands will be announced in the coming weeks.

but, i think there were some sweet pre-fight sentences in an episode of Stroker and Hoop, i dont remember them though.

Is punknews hatred for hardcore growing, or have I become more aware of it as my interest in these bands has grown?

Most of these bands don't really subscribe to the "tough guy brutal mosh" stereotypes you all envision. Let me put it this way: Just because you watched a video of Terror or Throwdown a few years ago and rolled your eyes in disgust does not give you unlimited license to write off great bands like Trash Talk or On.

You're missing out, honestly.

Yeah, man, I definitely agree with you. Trash Talk really blew me away. They went from ripping Ceremony to a really intense but tasteful album.

In general the ignorant hate towards hardcore (MattRamone) gets old.

Hardcore bands tunneled out the DIY network that thrives today. Not these kinds of HC bands, though.

Many of these hardcore bands are just as DIY as bands from the early to mid 1980's. I've actaully seen most of the bands that are playing this year and watched them get big without much label supoort, if any. I've seen rotting out passing out flyers at other shows. I've watched a couple of these bands show up in pick up trucks because the don't have a van. I really feel like DIY is making a come back.
