Because I don't get it.
I click a reply and it opens that reply with it's own replies and then other random replies with their own replies, and it's just a huge mess that I can't navigate.

I have actually met Fat Mike on a few occasions in New Zealand and once in Chicago and the guy is straight up arrigant. he doesn't give a shit about anyone that cannot help him make money (maybe look back and see what happened to a former NOFX guitarist - cant remember his name)

Dave was really more of a fun guy to watch get drunk and fall down at a party than a guitar player who could remember how to play NOFX songs. The band talked about it and then MIke talked to him and he quit.

Steve left because of drug use in the band.

I know they are completely different, I was using them as an example of how that statement is easily shot down with an extreme example proving that it isn't ok to hate. And tons of punks publicly and devotely beat down on Christianty around hear. Punks are not quiet for the sake of not offending people at all here. Just look up the last few Gaslight Anthem threads and search for it. People always point out how they can't support him because of his belief in Christianity, now that is stupid, the dude doesn't even preach one bit. Any time Christianity is mentioned people instantly bash on followers, most of the time not even on the religion, but whatever user decides to state their belief in the religion.

And for whatever it's worth, I'm not even Christian (I'm Catholic). But constantly seeing this shit annoys me way too much.

His parents were, he isn't. He was raised with Jewish traditions, but he has no actual beliefs himself.

In the show, there was an episode where he prayed to be able to be heard by his parents, but stating that he doesn't believe in that stuff, which didn't make any sense. It also made me believe the guy does in fact believe in God and prayer, just doesn't agree with it. Which is not at all what he's been saying his whole career.

I'm totally with you man. Mike Burkett is a first class asshole. I used to be into this band until I learned a little bit more about the actual people in it. I will never again buy any of their music or go to any of their shows (hell, anyone who DOES pay money to go to their shows deserve what they get - a band that doesn't want to be there and would rather make the same stupid and tired jokes then actually play a song). Not to mention they charge ridiculous ticket prices.

Anyone who tries to argue that Burkett isn't all about the money simply isn't paying attention...or doesn't want to believe it.

I'm not really attacking NOFX since I don't care for them either way but they maybe selling out shows but they seem to be mostly full of complete asshole frat guys or reject pledges. If that is the caliber of fans a group has to draw from it isn't exactly a ringing endorsement, but NOFX seems to hate their crowds anyways.

At least Melt Banana offers a orignal album and a orignal sound, NOFX offers...shit.

obviously you're not well versed in nofx's catalog, they did not sound anything like this in their early days and not even in the 90s. this is like the post-heavy petting zoo sound they've been doing for awhile now. but you cant tell me this sounds like riibed or s&m or liberal (all albums that don't sound similar at all)

Listen to more NOFX? Because this song sounds very different than any of their previous records.
Though it might fit on Wolves in Wolves Clothing...
Their music changes pretty drastically almost every record.

Listen to Pennywise, or 7 Seconds, or most other punk bands who really have been writing the same song for their entire careers.

well i think that there are a lot of bands today in 2009 who were in their obvious prime between 1994 and 1996... in my opinion, its time for some of those bands to hang it up

the frustrating thing is, you've got bands like The Suicide Machines, who made one of the greatest comebacks in punk history, retire prematurely, but then you have other bands who haven't made a classic record in 10 years still making music

pretty much, this is why bands like Bad Religion outdo bands like NOFX once they hit their 40s... BR can write songs that men in their 40s and 50s can relate to, making the music real and believable

I just don't think they're honestly that great collectively at songwriting. They've got one or two catchy, memorable songs (or, at least songs I like) per album and the rest just sounds like filler. I guess I just don't see why they're this huge major well known punk rock band and someone like, say, the Copyrights aren't.

I never want to act my age. I think my original comment was taken the wrong way. No, at 45 I am not still planning on going to frat parties and clubs, but I hope I am still falling in love with music like I was when I was 13, still have the ambition and drive of a 20 year old, and still not satisfied with where I am in life and wanting to better myself. In that regard I never want to grow up, just older. I also hope I can still enjoy the irreverance of a NOFX record.
