HORSE the Band have entered the studio to begin work on their new record, Desperate Living. The album is the band's fourth and debut for Vagrant Records. The band is recording at White Buffalo Studios in Los Angeles with producer Noah Shain.
The group is aiming for a mid-Summer release. The band also recruited Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu who will be helping with sound construction. Stewart explained: Horse the Band has asked me to try to help them make a dying robot, an exploding keyboard, a dream laugh and a melted, drastic flute of redemption. Lucky for you and for me hey have the wit and creativity to turn these things into music.
The group issued A Natural Death in 2007. Vagrant Records (23 comments)

Wow, Jamie Stewart is on board? I've never listened much to HORSE the band but I'll be interested to hear how he's helped them out. I love Xiu Xiu and Jamie Stewart -- Definitely one of the most innovative musicians of the '00s with the way he takes pop music, breaks it down then builds it back up through noise into this elemental form that is somehow enjoyable and listenable. Keeping my eyes open for this one...

The songwriting for this band is pretty weird, even if you took away the keyboards and funny voices, it would still be a bit bizarre. They're a guilty pleasure for me, but I really do think that they have a really unique take on the joke/genre mashup schtick that can be pretty powerful if you're in the right mood. | Features
