Smoking Popes albums finally get release dates

and tells us that on September 3, 2002, Double Zero Records will be releasing two final Smoking Popes releases: one is the Smoking Popes' final album called "The Party's Over," a collection of cover songs recorded in 1998 before their break up, and the other is the Smoking Popes Tribute Album, featuring Duvall, Mike Felumlee, Tom Daily, Red Hot Valentines, Bad Astronaut, Junction 18, Retro Morning, The Ataris, Death on Wednesday and more. man, the tribute record sounded good when they first announced it....so, um...what happened to all the good bands? apparently Jets to Brazil isn't going to have their cover on there anymore....not to mention countless other bands who were actually GOOD... these bands (except for tom daily and mike) shouldn't be able to touch these songs...fuck that shit... and the Smoking Popes covering the byrds? That's fucking rad as hell.... Jimi

Double Zero (the smoking popes label) is releasing a tribute to The Smoking Popes!! And Duvall and Mike Felumlee are playing tribute to themselves!! How lame. Talk about squeezing pus out of dried up zit.
