Face to Face in the studio recording Rise Against cover

Face to Face have, via Twitter, noted that they are currently in the studio recording a Rise Against track for a forthcoming split.

No further details on the split have yet been announced.

Their Blondie cover was no good, neither was their Jawbreaker cover.

Their Descendents "rip off" wasn't very pleasing either. I'm sure this is going to be awesome.

I tried to get into them over the course of years. It always bums me out when I can't get into a pop punk band in particular, because that's my favorite type of music and I have some really....guilty pleasures. Green Day (all of it) and New Found Glory being two of the biggest.

But Face to Face, something about his voice (ironic, given the love I have for NFG) drives me insane.

i saw the twitter interface at work 2 years through consumating.com and later, goteaminternet.com. it was okay then, because there was an actual point to posting, there were actual conversations being held (much like pretty much having your own message board in addition to the social networking/adding friends feature of a myspace or facebook).

i agree that twitter as it is now, especially with the 140 character limit, tends to trivialize everybody's posts to a little sound byte. it's like.....do we really need to know some dude's taking a shit right now, or what somebody's doing in traffic? yeah, it's all kinda meaningless.

so with twitter we get almost real-time updates on celebrities' lives.

i mean, i do the same thing (not with twitter, but through bulletins of various sorts) but does this sorta mean the death of anticipation of music? seems like we as a music-going subculture are edging closer to knowing what an album sounds like even before the band starts recording. shit starts leaking to the internet almost instantaneously. we get streaming myspace previews of albums.

part of the fun of music is seeing what an artist or band will do next. makes you wonder how fans of say, led zeppelin in the 60s and 70's, or fans of the clash responded to each new album. here, it's like we almost get to decide that an album rules or sucks before it hits the streets.

not that i'm complaining about it, like with New Lexicon or Supporting Caste, it was great hearing the whole album stream online....yet i can't help but feel a little sad that we don't have to wait for a new album to drop with as much suspense as much as say, even ten years ago before new media really ramped up album promotion.

There's no difference between anticipating hearing it when the physical album comes out, and anticipating hearing it when it gets streamied online or leaks before the release date. It's the same anticipation, it's just gratified more quickly.
