The Punknews Twitter account has become a great way to keep in touch with readers, and it's starting to provide some great feedback from folks who read the site but don't necessarily participate in the usual comment fray. Here's a recommendation that was tweeted our way. Fullerton, California's Disguster plays, fast, rough rock'n'roll in the vein of the New Bomb Turks or the Dragons. The band recently released a split with the ex-Humpers act the Hitchhikers (with whom Disguster shares a drummer) via Zodiak Killer Records and have a gig coming up supporting the Angry Samoans in Anaheim. I have to be there for orientation August 18th so I'm sure I'll be leaving around the 13th or 14th. Can't waitttttt. I heard the city itself wasn't that big. Only 9 miles by 9 miles? That it's just the suburbs around it that make it huge. Fact or fiction? I can't wait to have an in-n-out burger. See if it levels up to Whataburger.

Whataburger is good, but In-N-out is like crack in food form. I know of few things where I eat them, then regardless of how full I am, want to eat them again.

I left my cell phone in the car and spent 3 innings walking around Dolphin Stadium at a Marlins game looking for a pay phone. When I would ask somebody that works there they were like....'huh, you know what? I don't know if there are any' Never found one. Ludicrous.

Now, don't get me wrong, i was rabid about Myspace for years, but I kinda like Twitter.

Why? There's a new aspect to it, "famous" people who've been speaking through "their guys" calling "the other guys" have eliminated people without "guys" of getting into it with the bigger leauges, but Twitter is changing that up a bit. I saw a story just a day or so ago that someone Blink 182 approached a band on Twitter by just saying "love the record, we want you on tour this summer". Bigger bands rarely run their own Myspace or Website, so I think it's kinda cool that Twitter connects people on a more direct level.

Not to mention, Shaq is apparently on there all the time and randomly calls people up and goes to hang out with them. It's just very spontanious.

Yes, but the difference is that Twitter is more Personal based than Myspace. There's no band profiles per se in the sense that you can have music and visible play counts on there..

Myspace still isn't the same thing, the @ deal seems to work really good. I don't really know how it works but from what I've seen it's quite restricted and doesn't really allow for spamming and random fishing the way Myspace does.

Does it help make the internet even more egocentric? Yes, that's why I'm not on it, it'd just feel awkward.

We'll see -- the way it's being advertised (from Colbert Report to AP), I have a feeling there will be spam, agents posting for their celebrity clients, and so many people that the personal level will dissolve, just like Myspace. Though two different things, I feel the concept is basically identical considering you can do what twitter does ON myspace.

How awesome are the people of our country, so easily exploited by the "next big thing" even though you've essentially been doing it for the passed few years on myspace and facebook status. Whatever, I have two friends and I think they know what I'm doing at all times.

Amen on that last statement, exactly why I don't have a myspace/facebook/twitter and why I feel slightly like a douche for having a blogspot (it's an orgcore requirement!).

Last night at the BMTII! show, I saw Stza do an acoustic set. To be honest, he wasn't all as lame as I thought he was. The show was even delayed by cops for too many people in the building and he really didn't yell any mindless rants. I take back what I said about him -- he seems like a chill guy and I shouldn't have made assumptions.

In the meantime, I reccommend reading Things I've Learned From the Women Who Dumped Me, an anthology about just that from writers like Patton Oswalt, Dan Savage, Bob Odenkirk and like half the staff from the Onion. It's a good read. By it at a yard sale like I did though; it's pretty thin and costs $25 in the bookstore.

A Dirk Kuyt double helped earn Liverpool a 3-1 victory over 10-man Hull City on Saturday afternoon.

The Dutchman fired twice in the second half after a beautiful opener from Xabi Alonso to put the Reds ahead of Manchester United on goal difference before their tea-time kick-off against Tottenham.

The hosts put up a mighty fight during Liverpool's first ever trip to the KC Stadium, scoring through Geovanni after Caleb Folan's 58th minute dismissal.

Rafa Benitez made three changes from the side that produced one of the Premier League's greatest ever games on Tuesday, with Emiliano Insua, Lucas Leiva and Martin Skrtel all returning.

They took part in an opening half which felt very much like the morning after the night before, as Liverpool struggled to find their rhythm.

Hull's hustling created several uncomfortable moments for the visiting defence early on, notably when Dean Marney surged forward from midfield on a quarter of an hour. Liverpool's rearguard backed off, allowing Marney to thunder a shot just off target.

Minutes later Geovanni came even closer as he showed all his Brazilian technique to launch a wicked volley towards goal from 30 yards. With Pepe Reina beaten, Liverpool were relieved to see the ball fly narrowly wide.

Phil Brown's men almost got the opener on 38 minutes when Sam Ricketts crossed towards the back post, where Nicky Barmy waited to inflict title misery on his former club. The plan went awry only when Folan interjected with a stretched header, much to the frustration of his better-placed teammate.

For Liverpool, only Yossi Benayoun looked at his best. The Israeli twisted his way towards goal on seven minutes before having a shot blocked. The ball fell to Fernando Torres eight yards out but the Spaniard was denied by a diving save from Boaz Myhill.

For his next trick, Benayoun turned Ricketts on a sixpence before curling over from an acute angle.

This was just about it from the visitors until Alonso opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time. The Spaniard's initial free-kick had been blocked by the Hull wall, but as the ball bounced back in his direction, Alonso shaped to hit an unstoppable right-foot volley beyond Myhill into the bottom corner.

The second half was only marginally better from a footballing perspective. It was 10 minutes before either side created a chance of note when Alvaro Arbeloa and Kuyt combined down the right before picking out Torres in the box. The 24-year-old struggled to find his shooting boots all afternoon and this time lashed just over the bar.

Liverpool's task was about to be made a whole lot easier on 58 minutes when referee Martin Atkinson issued a straight red card to Caleb Folan after an arm to the face of Martin Skrtel.

Five minutes later Kuyt made it 2-0 with a goal straight out of the poacher's handbook. It came after a Liverpool corner was cleared to Skrtel, whose fumbled shot fell to the Dutchman, who in turn sliced home from close range.

That should have been that, but Hull were given hope and impetus on 73 minutes when a long ball from Bernard Mendy opened the Liverpool defence. Substitute Daniel Cousin did his part down the left before sending a low cross to the unmarked Geovanni, who converted into an empty net.

The Merseysiders almost hit an instant reply when Torres put a goal on a plate for Lucas, who should have shot with his left but instead sent an ambitious right-foot dink high and wide.

Next, the sight of a Torres header rebounding off the crossbar after a well-aimed cross from Kuyt.

The Dutchman showed his fellow striker how it was done on 89 minutes when Myhill parried an Arbeloa shot and Kuyt was on hand to sidefoot into a vacant goal.
