Despite what you've heard, some punks do have mothers. So we've teamed up with artist Heather Gabel to give a away a special prize. Heather has designed some plate sets, and is giving a set away to one lucky Punknews reader.

Being a White Sox fan I really focus on the AL central, and it is reaaaalllllly gonna be a battle. The current standings seem to be an accurate representation of how the season could go. The tigers, Sox, Twins, and possibly royals all seem to me like they will win 80-85 games.

I'm not high on any AL east team. Maybe it's just my hatred of the entire division, but I don't believe in any of those teams. The Yanks pitching staff sucks, the Red Sox are gonna be throwing out guys like Masterson, Penny, and a washed up Smoltz all season, while Ortiz and Lowell are falling apart. Fuck that division.

I also think the Marlins are for real with their great young lineup and rotation. I would never trust any Jerry Manual led team to do anything. Ask any White Sox fan about that. The phillies are gonna come to back down to earth, and I don't know why everybody

I just bought Coaster today. That whole new CD price thing that FAT is doing worked out well for me. My local store, which in general has shitty selection and inflated prices was honoring the FAT price and had it brand new for $7.99. I've only heard it twice, but I really like it so far. Way better than wolves (although I didn't hate that one like some people did, it just had too much filler).

My favorite song so far is one I haven't really heard much chatter on: Suits and Ladders.

I disagree about Wolves though, which I thought was one of their best. But Coaster is good, and has lyrics on par with the greatness they've been pumping out lately.

I didn't realize it was out. I do, however, have midnight tickets for Star Trek with my friend. Stoked and confident it's going to live up to my expectation.

About Wolverine, I'm just not interested in Origin stories anymore. We know where Wolverine came from. We know where Iron Man came from. We know the history for every super hero out there. Make a new fucking story already, or at least use a comic arc most people don't know about. Lame assholes.

That being said, I'm excited to see it also because he's such a badass character.

Haha I know what you mean about origin stories. I never was much of a Start Trek fan, but this new one looks pretty interesting.

Speaking of other Summer movies, for some reason I really don't want to see Terminator: Salvation. It looks really cool, but I'm just like meh about it. I don't really know why. I guess part of it is that they keep finding loop holes to have movies. I thought the second one ended it! haha

I feel the same way. Terminator 3 sucked in my opinion (like Die Hard 4). The tv series was dumb as fuck. If they really have time travel, there would be 40000 ways to kill him and he wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

Plus I hate it when they change actors for the same character. Like 37 different actors have played John Conner.

There are some good summer movies I think coming out. I'm can't think of them right now though.

Die Hard 4 isn't canon to me. I saw it once and it's forgotten. Banished from my memory.

Shutter Island comes out on Oct 2nd if that counts as a summer movie.

Yeah I didn't like 3. Claire Danes and Kristanna Lokken (or however you spell it) made it bearable. I like Christian Bale even after the lashing out at a lighting tech or whatever it was haha, but why didn't they just stick with Nick Stahl?

Either way, I didn't mind the Christian Bale thing at all. The media blew it up out of proportion and took all that shit out of context like they do all the time. He yelled at the guy for a long time but the guy was saying shit back to him. If anyone has ever been in a shouting match, then they know that certainly neither person is more of an asshole than the other if they both carry on the argument. Christian Bale just happened to have a mic on. I would have been pissed too if the guy kept fucking it up repeatedly. At some point it's going to get frustrating and feel like the guy is doing it on purpose.

He's my favorite too by far. But my runners up would be Andrei Tarkovsky, Kar Wai Wong, Scorsese, and maybe Werner Herzog and Krzysztof Kieslowski. All of these are much recommended. Krzysztof Kieslowski made the Decalogue, about which Kubrick said was the only masterpiece made in his lifetime.

I'm trying to remember which Kubrick movie I watched first. I remember the first time I saw 2001 because I fell in love with him. My Stanley Kubrick movie collection are the only DVDs I take with me wherever I move. All the rest stay at my dad's house.

I think the first one I saw was Full Metal Jacket. I wish it had been Barry Lyndon.

That movie is in route to me right now. I can't wait.

I'd watch the In the Mood for Love trilogy. The order goes:

Days of Being Wild > In the Mood for Love > 2046

I'm normally super strict about watching things in order, but here you really have a choice in the order you watch them in. Either: 1, 2, 3, or 2, 3, 1. Just don't watch 2046 until after you see In the Mood for Love. It's a very loose trilogy. I won't go into details though.

If you ever get around to seeing any of these, let me know what you think. He's a fucking amazing director/cinematographer/etc. I love to talk movies.

Speaking of which, I just watched The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser, and holy fuck, that's one of the best movies I've seen in months.

The acting by Bruno S. might be in the top 5 acting performances I've ever seen. Has anyone else seen this? He was flawless.

i enjoy the new nofx album very much. it is their best album since pump up the valium. tracks 1,4,7,10 and 12 are the best songs.

hopefully rancid will also see a return to form, but that first single is fairly bland.

after sublime, rancid and nofx are the 2 best bands of the 90s and im happy they both have albums out in 2009 within 2 months of each other.

also, fuck sir alex fuckin red nose arrogant alcoholic wanker.

I had to pull an all nighter last night (actually, I only slept 3 hrs out of 48 until I slept all day today). The good news is that I finished my Ph.D. dissertation and will defend/hopefully graduate on Tuesday.

My point is, I bought Coaster yesterday and literally listened to it all night. It's really fucking good. Best/most interesting geetar work they've had in a long time.

My favorites are: We Called It America, The Quitter, My Orphan Year, Eddie, Bruce and Paul, and Suits and Ladders.
