Green Day is currently streaming new tracks on the band's official Web site that recently premiered on KROQ. The tracks will be featured on the band's forthcoming release 21st Century Breakdown.

I'm definitely digging these so far. My only two complaints with Green Day are still:

1) Live, the "I said Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey oooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh" bullshit,
and
2) Billie Joe's hair... I want pre-American Idiot shortness!

If you don't like the NOFX and Green Day releases, I wouldn't really count on the Rancid one.

I like Coaster / Frisbee (I'd give it about a 7.5), I'm really diggin' what I've heard of 21st Century Breakdown, and I'm sure I'll think Let The Dominoes Fall will please me enough.

If I liked your band before, it's hard for me to not like your future stuff... that's just the way shit seems to roll with me.
However, getting into new bands, that's where I find some difficulty.

What band would say, legitimately has had the largest impact from the punk community?

This is gonna definitely gonna be a very unpopular, but I think honestly it's either Green Day or the Clash. That's not to take away from the Ramones ate all, but I think if you really think about it, Green Day easily belong in that category, near, or at the top.

I'd have to agree with you. I'd say Green Day would top the list. Definitely not my favorite, especially post Insomniac, but they've made it huge and have crazy reach. At least their still a band I'll read the lyric sheet to and probably feel somewhat inspired.

These all have potential to grow on me, but it seems to me like Green Day has sort of forgotten to how to have fun. I know that in being a band as long as they have, they have to find to new ways to entertain themselves and push their limits. I don't think that anyone is expecting another Dookie, however this lis like a bloated American Idiot. I'd settle for something akin to Nimrod...just solid stand alone songs.

I hope they don't butcher "A Quick One While He's Away". The version of that song on Live At Leeds is one of my favorite songs of all time.

A year or two ago, somebody on this website said that for Green Day to maintain "greatness" they'd have to release a more raw punk album as their follow-up to American Idiot to stick it to the mainstream-heads; much like they did with Insomniac after Dookie. Looks like Green Day did the opposite - they tried to emulate the success of American Idiot instead of returning to their roots. Bad decision.

Pretty sure that was me.

The problem with this album already is that American Idiot was taking the Nimrod Green Day sound and expanding it, quite organically, into a rock opera.

It helped that it was about an East Bay punk leaving home, finding a new identity, drugs and a girl, then losing it all and returning home all prodigal son style.

This one seems forced. There's no other word for it. Oh well, I'll reserve final judgement til I hear it all.

I much rather perfer Green Day moving in new directions even if it isn't as good as their other stuff. They've been doing it for so long that I wouldn't want to hear them make the same album they made when they were exiting their teenage years. And plus, I have Pinhead Gunpowder to satisfy my punk needs out of Armstrong, so I fine with Green Day doing something different.

I was 18 when Dookie came out, I loved Kerplunk and absolutely hated Dookie. Still do. I enjoy the records after Dookie as well, that record just bugged me from first listen.

"American Eulogy" is really good, despite the lyrics and the intro. Mike should do more lead vocals.

I also like "Restless Heart Syndrome," even though it doesn't sound like Green Day at all.

Yeah it's pretty sweet. The only thing I really don't like is the thing at the beginning. It sounds like Billie sang the lyrics once off the top of his head, thought it sounded decent, and then didn't bother to revise the lyrics at all.

"Sing us a song for me"

Really?! This is the guy who wrote "One of My Lies" and "No One Knows" when he was like 17, and he leaves lines like this untouched? I'm not liking the lyrics that much on the new stuff, which is kind of ruining a lot of it for me.

The funny thing that I find is the choice of these singles. Desperate/Murder City, Viva La Gloria, and Peacemaker--three of my favorite songs from the album weren't played. All three are fast paced punky songs. That's fine as I really don't care what the singles are, I'm spending the 9.99 anyway. Singles...bllehh..Who listens to the fn radio anymore?

18 songs on the album, it should be noted. I love the title track, esp the second half.....East Jesus Knowhere just seems ok. Nothing to brag about. 21 Guns I really like---didn't care too much for Restless Heart Syndrome, but I'm sure after a few more listens I may dig it.

I'm pretty pleased with what i've heard so far. I'm not going to judge their new stuff too much until i've listened to the album in its entirety.

21 Guns surprised me the most, especially with the vocals, pretty good tune though.

American Eulogy was my favorite of the bunch. Restless Heart Syndrome was kind of 'meh', but i think it will grow on me.

This album seems like it's going to be American Idiot, but with a much bigger Warning influence, and that's fine with me.

most common sense thing i've read on here. its funny how alot of people say they hate the songs and think they suck when they haven't even really heard them or had a chance to let them grow on them yet. i think its pretty good from what i've heard so far and looking forward to getting used to it (yes i've heard it in its entirety). i'm willing to bet that 6 months from now most of the closet haters on here will have it in their collect but will be silently hypocritical about it.

After hearing these songs, I had to listen to insomniac and nimrod to remind myself this band actually made decent music once.
