Only Crime writing new material

Only Crime frontman Russ Rankin told The Punk Site that the band has begun writing new material for what would be their third album. He notes:

We're halfway through the writing process right now. We've done a couple at Fort Collins where Bill's at and it's been awesome. It's been a lot of fun, some cool stuff coming out of it.

The band released Virulence in 2007.

The first six or so songs are great, but "Just Us" is awful, and every song after it lacks the punch of the first half.

i cant decide if i wanna bum $100 off of family and friends by this weekend to get the 5 day pass.
I've gone for one night the last 2 years, but i think it would be fun to go to all the shows.

nah, $100 doesn't sound worth it. They normally put all the good bands all on one night anyways, paying the $25 or whatever for that is fine.

Wait for the second round of announcements, these bands aren't all playing on the same day. Trust me, the five day pass will be worth it to get into all the shows.

They better all be playin' on the same day 'cause I ain't payin' no $100 to go to no stupid five-day fest! @#%$&*!!! yeah, I'll wait until June 18th when they announce the rest of the lineup and who's playing when. I'm sure there will be at least one day that will be better than the rest.

I submitted it, 'cause I'm bored at work. Requested the time off from work and booking the flight now.

Ben said they're playing on the 11th, so that's the day I definitely need a ticket for. The other shows, maybe. Doubt I'm dropping the $100 on the 5-day pass.

I don't know why but I've never gotten too into these guys. I loved Good Riddance and they're good at what they do. Maybe I'm just old.

it must be that they play in drop D. i interviewed Russ a while back on the To The Nines tour, and asked something to the effect of personel aside, what is the biggest difference between this and Good Riddance, i don't remember his exact answer, but I walked away with "Only Crime plays in Drop D", which reminded me of when Nigel says "but these go to 11" when asked why not just make 10 louder.

saw them last night in detroit.

was pretty disappointed by the fact that i did not recognize any band members.
it was just russ with a backing band of young dudes. no bill stevenson was a huge bummer. would've walked out if i wasn't there for no use. they did sound good though.

no use was perfect. played a perfect setlist 80% leche thru betterness plus feeding the fire. awesome.

Yeah, I thought it was kinda lame that Zach Blair and Bill Stevenson weren't touring. Good Riddance put on a way better exciting show than Only Crime unfortunately. Half the crowd used to sing along at GR shows.

saw these guys with strung out and dbs and they were boring as hell, their setlist sucked and just wern't fun. No one got into them at the show either except for like 3 kids. Hopefully their new album provides some better material.

When the opened for Rise Against that made them the first band I've ever seen live 2 years a go. I stole a set list and ever since I've loved this band.

the first record is better then their second. Its weird at their shows when no one is into them cause to me its like watching Good Riddance again. Ill always go see them when they roll through.

I love this band. I saw them with AVAIL a few years back and at the time I was really into their first album but all the AVAIL fans hated them and no one seemed the least bit interested in their set. It was very disssapppointing.

Second album not as good.

And without Bill Stevernson I don't see the point in touring.
