Lucero completes album

Lucero has announced the completion of their first full length for Universal/Republic. The band posted this update:

Lucero is really pleased to announce that the new album is finished. Details to come very soon. In the meantime, we're making plans to do one video for each song on the album and we're interested in hearing from you if you've got the skills and interest to make one. Our record label will be able to use all of them for promotional purposes. In short, you'll get a lot of press and credit for them, but just a little bit of money. Hey, that seems to be the way of the record business these days.

The record is the follow up to Rebels, Rogues, & Sworn Brothers from 2006. In the intervening years, frontman Ben Nichols released a solo EP. The EP is based around the novel, Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy.

I hope unlike Against Me! they use their major label budget for all sorts of bells and whistles like a horn and string sections, and lots of keys and stuff.

So I just realized Comeback Kid are good.

I've always wanted loud, hardcore stuff that's actually good. I hate Paint It Black. This is SO much better.

PS: It took me checking out Comeback Kid's singer's new band Sights And Sounds and liking them (noticed they were playing with Polar Bear Club soon) to get into them. Kinda backwards, but hey.

EDIT: Ah, apparently it's only Andrew Neufeld I like. He only sings on Comback Kid's last cd. I don't seem to like the earlier stuff.

disagree 100% on the first part, Paint It Black while Dan's voice isn't the most distinct the music is great and tries different things from album to album and they are really solid lyrically.

Are you going to that PBC show? I missed them once already because of a transit strike and the second time I think my ankle was broken.

Check out Sights and Sounds if you don't mind more progressive stuff. Andrew sings for 'em.
When they get loud, it's really damn good, and personally I don't mind the in-between parts at all.
They're kind of like Balance & Composure in that sense, yet different.

This has been my favorite band for years now, and I've realized that I'm totally in the minority, but Tennessee is probabaly my second to least favorite album of theirs. Some awesome songs, but for some reason always kinda left me indifferent. Gotta go;
