Pete Wentz to launch comic book series

Like Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz apparently has the desire to get involved with comic books and will be releasing a new series through Image Comics (Spawn, Youngblood, The Maxx) in the fall, reports MTV.

The story will be called Fall Out Toyworks and will be a five-issue minseries based on a mysterious toymaker, a cyborg named Tiffany and a kid in a bear suit. The first issue is due out September 2, 2009. You can click Read More for the cover art.

Can you believe this guy was in a really heavy, metal/hardcore band with Tim McIlrath of Rise Against? And he (Wentz) was the vocalist! Seriously, look it up. That band was far worse than Fallout Boy though, if you can believe it.

It's sad that this is still what the mainstream thinks of Image Comics. Spawn is still around, but Rob Liefeld is more laughable than Pete Wentz, and nothing has ever come of The Maxx since ska was popular.

Spawn was an awful comic. The dialogue was cringe-worthy and the art was below average, except for the occasional cool picture of Spawn posing. I could only make it through 5 or 6 issues of the first collection.

I've never read any Youngblood, but I'm going to guess it too is awful based on the character designs and Rob Liefeld's ability as an artist.
