Tours: Ignite (Europe)

Ignite have announced their summer tour. The long-running melodic hardcore outfit will be headed to Europe for a mixture of club shows and festival appearances. They continue to support Our Darkest Days.

The band has also launched a contest to help select the opening band for their club dates. You can find more details on that here.

ugh, it's bad enough they replaced terrance howard with don cheadle (wtf), now this? the first one was really good, and they're already going to ruin the franchise. why is it marvel seems to barely be capable of making decent films?

With the exception of X2 I really can't think of a Marvel film that I would rate higher than average. The first X men was decent, but the third was such a let down.

actually, i thought x-men was a little better than x2, but both are really good. the scene with nightcrawler in the white house is classic. the third one is such a piece of shit, even worse than those godawful spider-man movies. and i didn't even bother with wolverine.

hey, before the dark knight came out and shat on everything before and everything that will be, x-men 2, spidey 2 and iron man were probably my favorite comic movies (along with batman begins of course).

i'm still waiting for marvel to reboot the fantastic four series as a period piece set in the 1960's, like "catch me if you can" style.

hopefully the reboot will be better. i didn't know it was going to be set in the 60s (unless you were joking)... you don't cast jessica alba as a superhero... you just don't. and enough with the nyfd stuff too, we get it.

no, that's purely a wishlist fantasy of mine. after reading the Marvels series done by alex ross, i have no fucking clue how or why marvel would want to update a story like the fantastic four's. setting it in modern day NYC just makes it even more conspicuously ridiculous.

same with captain america. i hope the entire first movie is all during WW2.

i feel like they're going down the list and ruining all my favorite childhood comic book series one by one. the avengers better be fucking bomb. i agree about the cap'n as well.

seems like 90% of the better comic-based movies were graphic novels.

The Capt America movie is definitely set during WW2. The Avengers film involves the team searching for him in the ice, and is coming out after CA.

Marvels only made 2 films through their own studio: Iron Man and Hulk. I thought Iron Man was very good. (I also enjoyed the first 2 Xmen and first 2 Spideys.)
What's the deal/difference between Howard and Cheadle? I don't think it makes a difference, at all. Also, Howard more or less left the franchise.

it was with a-types (the first of the worst). the frailty of words, no wings to speak of, and the satellite years are all stellar. it's not often you find a band that was leaps and bounds better when they were jesus freaks.

My only problem with Our Darkest Days is that it seems so short when I listen to it, even though it's 36 minutes long, which is longer than a lot of punk records. It just feels short to me.

God, I love this band. Each record is substantially better than the last, which I really can't say about many bands. The songwriting on Our Darkest Days is phenomenal, and don't even get me started on Mr. Teglas's voice...

This last one was killer, but better every release? They release some absolute garbage in between some good records. ODD was definitely their last chance for redemption.

Which records, your opinion, are the good ones and which ones are the garbage ones? I got into them on A Place Called Home, because they played with Bad Religion. I liked that record and the new one, but I'd give the award to A Place Called Home. Their earlier stuff, from what I understand, puts more emphasis on the 'hardcore' aspect rather than the 'melodic' aspect and that doesn't really do it for me.

A Place Called Home was crap. It was their attempt at becoming a "mainstream" band. Call On My Brothers was a great, essential mid90s hardcore record. They really fucked themselves everywhere except for Europe with APCH. They couldn't have gotten arrested with that thing. The "new one" was more of a return to COMB.
They were always melodic hardcore. APCH was them attempting to ride bands like Pennywise, Rancid, Bad Religion onto the radio, thus singing to TVT.
