Pixies $495 box set revealed

As the pre-order has begun, details on The Pixies $495 have been revealed. As originally announced, the massive set will include all five Pixies' studio albums in the following formats: 24k gold plated CD's; five 12" - 180 gram virgin vinyl LP's cut from the original analog tapes; Blu-ray audio mastered for 5.1 surround sound and 2 channel stereo at 24/192; DVD mastered for 5.1 surround sound and 2 channel stereo at 24/96. Also included is the previously unreleased Pixies 1991 live performance from Brixton, on both Blu-ray and DVD, mastered for 5.1 surround sound at 24/192 and 24/96, respectively. All discs are housed in a custom designed folio.

Each copy of the Limited Edition is individually numbered, and hand-signed by every member of the Pixies and Vaughan Oliver.

meh they played a bro-fest here on their reunion tour and I was not about to pay festival prices for a short set from one band I really wanted to see. I don't think I'd have that good a chance for a club date anyways. Hopefully, the next AM! record will make up for it for me.

I know they said something on punknews a while back about how all music should be $5 or something. Granted, he mentioned the box set coming out and how that might conflict with what he is saying, but in my opinion, it makes him the biggest douche. Fuck this jazz. Excessive and unnecessary. this box set will weigh around 25 pounds. theres only 3000 being made too, so i think its really something for the fans, not a money thing. if youre not a $500 fan, theres a $175 box set too, which i would be pretty content with if it came with lp's, but it doesnt.
