Decaydance signs Millionaires

Decaydance has signed Millionaires. The label will begin by releasing a new EP through the label, titled Just Got Paid, Lets Get Laid on June 23, 2009.

The controversial trio is playing Warped Tour this summer, and Kevin Lyman commented on the group in a recent Punknews.org interview:

You don't have to like Brokencyde, or Jeffree Star, or the Millionaires, and I'm not saying that I do necessarily. But they are doing something, capturing something, stirring up controversy. Punk bands used to stir up controversy; if you're taking that as the definition of "punk", these artists could fall under that category.

They aren't controversial, their success is (same with Brokencyde and Jeffree Star). That's something that Kevin Lyman is directly contributing to. This is shit music that doesn't deserve exposure outside of the world of Myspace, yet there's money to be made off this garbage so you can bet your ass people are going to get these groups out there.

Dude. Treephort was the funniest band ever. Their songs (e.g. "why do fat kids like metallica", "eat blazing electric death, bitch") were awesome, and their live show was ridiculous.

bands like Bad Religion and NOFX are controversial for the right reasons or to prove a point for whatever reason, and not usually because people think they suck.
Brokencyde is stirring up controversy, because people aren't taking them seriously not to mention, they suck and the band said themself said they are just taking a piss, so it's pissing everyone off that they are spoken of and or heard of.
Jeffree Star is just a queen who used to work for MAC cosmetics and isn't really controversial, but is making it seem like dressing up in drag and singing about bloody cupcakes is cool for young gay punks. I mean, really, where the fuck is Pansy Division????

Also, the issue of controversy was a big discussion on the Kevin Lyman thread, but its worth repeating that punk was never just "controversial". It was thought provoking, promoted justice and attacked the norms. Celebrating conspicuous consumption and rich-brat values is none of these.

Yeah, but the Ramones pissed off conservative social norms by making cute sounding songs about the Nazis and beating up little kids. It was horrifying from the outside looking in, but in reality it was just about geeky kids from Queens singing about comic books. No one was singing about weird shit like that in 1975, save for MAYBE someone like Bowie or the Dolls.

How are the Millionaires different? They aren't. Its just horrifying because someone who grew up in the punk and hardcore scene Who Should Fucking Know Better is promoting this trash.

It's why people take the time to sign up for an account on Warped Tour just to say how much the tour sucks or say how they're gonna go to Warped tour to throw bottles at bands they hate instead of watching the ones they like. no, they would never get praised because they're shitty electronic, and to add country influences would make them even worse. people on this site don't like them simply because of that though; they are just shitty and most people on here don't like electronic in the first place.

also, the bands that are liked on this site are liked because they're musically appealing to a specific set of people, not just because they live up to a general aesthetic.
