Many of you have already heard about the collaboration between the Gaslight Anthem and Bruce Springsteen at this past weekend's Glastonbury Festival. Springsteen joined the band onstage to perform the title track from their sophomore LP, The '59 Sound. Vocalist/guitarist Brian Fallon performed again with the Boss later in the day during his headlining set for the song "No Surrender".

My ears may still be ringing from Polar Bear Club last night, but I definitely kept hearing Bruce say "song" instead of "choir"... three times. 2+ Replies

I heard Bruce Springsteen opened his set with Joe Strummer's "Coma Girl". Anyone find any video of this online? 4+ Replies

Bruce definitely was not as familiar with the song as he should have been, but that's okay. This was still way fun to watch.

It's nice to see the singer actually be into it, when I saw them a few months ago I though he was a zombie or something. He just stood there like an asshole and bummed everyone out. 2+ Replies

Helium is to Jimmy Stadt as cocaine is to Dave Hause. But they were still awesome.

I heard this song for the first time waiting in a movie theatre this weekend. Is the rest of the album that boring? 2+ Replies

Jesus Christ. Well...I guess they've officially made it. Gotta give credit where it's due. 6+ Replies

Bruce Springsteen is a circular narrative in many ways, where he kind of sums up the human race in a time capsule 2+ Replies

i woulda been REALLY blown away if springsteen actually knew the words to the song really well. went from being something totally awesome to kind of awkward and strange.

Lyrically Gaslight borrows Bruce's style but anyone that thinks The '59 Sound sounds like Born To Run, or Darkness on the Edge of Town or Magic is drunk. They both write rock n roll and there might be some similarities musically here and there but Springsteen didn't invent his style either, he borrowed to make his own, just like the Ramones or the Clash. 5+ Replies

that was really fun to watch and kind of crazy that they got to do this so quickly in their career. brian looks like a happy happy puppy throughout the whole thing, aw.

brian fallon is from new jersey... i don't know why he talks like hes from virgina or something
mikexdude (June 30, 2009)
I am so stoked for them. I remember seeing these dudes with like... being generous, 100 people. This band deserves it no matter how much you all think they ripped of springsteen. I don't even like bruce. 6+ Replies

The Boss totally fucked up thhe words.
badastrojon (June 30, 2009)
hahaha bruce has no idea what the words are besides the first line of the chorus.

i like how no one that listened to punk rock gave two shits about bruce before all of this loved ones and gaslight anthem hype. i still think he sucks. 8+ Replies

As much shit as Gaslight get for sounding so much like Springsteen, you can't deny how amazing that must feel for them to be able to play with someone as big as Bruce Springsteen.
thinkerthought (June 30, 2009)
Fucking awesome. Cheers to Gaslight for getting the dream and to Bruce for being a real enough dude to sing with an opener.
TheEnforcer (June 30, 2009)
where did that fucking accent come from? New Jersey?
timahelm (June 30, 2009)
i watched the whole video with a huge smile on my face. i'm really hapyy for this guy. It was the best moment of his life!
crackpotdemagogue (June 30, 2009)
I was there. it was brilliant. fallon singing with springsteen was better... he actually sung a coupla verses on his own as opposed to just sharing the chorus.
allbutone (June 30, 2009)
cleary Bruce hasn't taught Brian how to do sing back to back into the same microphone. that is a classic springsteen move.
westfield_east (July 2, 2009)
as brilliant as that was, it was funny seeing Bruce fuck the song up the way he did. | Features
