The Matches have put a postscript on their recent indefinite hiatus with a song performed by vocalist Shawn Harris.

disagree. their first album was amazing and i saw them 3 times while they were promoting it.. then after that they became homos and the music sucked. saw em promoting decomposer and the show was so dead... the new songs are boring and only 2 e von dahl songs were played. motherfuckers. such wasted potential.

He is a masterful story teller he uses bits and pieces of established lore to convey something new through those established meanings and ideas. People love Shakespeare, think he is a genius but his ideas weren't exactly original ones but he was highly skillful in their reconstitution of those ideas.

if you go to your local bookstore, there's bound to be a few books that can do this for you. otherwise i'd just listen to Highway 61 Revisited and then Blonde on Blonde and let your ears do all of the explaining.

he just has a lot of good tunes in terms of pop/folkrock music but that won't exactly explain why he is so great and you might not even think he is after that. Some people hate his voice.

i've listened to Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde On Blonde and i'm still not understanding what is so great. i'm not much the literary type, and most people who like his work seem to like books and poetry and whatnot. that may be why. my cousin told me start at the beginning with the self titled, i listened to that yesterday and while the low-fidelity stripped down feel fit the music well, the music and lyrics themselves were not so great. i get bob dylan isn't supposed to be a great singer, but i don't see the great stories being sewn in his songs.
