Tours: The Lawrence Arms / Teenage Bottlerocket / Cobra Skulls

The Lawrence Arms have announced a week-long tour of the west coast in November. Joining them will be Cobra Skulls and new labelmates Teenage Bottlerocket. The Lawrence Arms recently entered the studio to record a new EP, while Teenage Bottlerocket's debut for Fat is expected out later this year and Cobra Skulls' new record American Rubicon dropped yesterday (and is streaming at the band's Punknews.org page).

As far as US West Coast goes it's closer to the South than it is North. Contrary to the belief of Californians and Easties, Washington and Oregon do exist and we do have quite a bit of coast line.

My recommendation for you:

1) Read above posts regarding this topic
2) Buy a map and ruler
3) Measure distance from Mexican border to SF
4) Measure distance from Canadian border to SF
5) Subtract distance of 4 from distance of 3: if your answer is negative SF is closer to the Mexican border than the Canadian and can therefore be considered in the Southern half of the West Coast
6) Repeat until meaning of 5 is understood.
7) You're an asshat.

Yeah but everyone on here seems to miss out on all the good bands, only raving about the ones that are constantly mentioned and shoved in their face. It'll take more than one article for the "lazy" people on here to get around to listening to this awesome song. It just... really frustrates me that I have this library of amazing bands everyone would like, but to get them all to go listen to and buy it all is an impossible task. I still think I should put out a 400 band compilation with 1 song from each, and get everyone to download it.

I really didn't get into the Arms until fairly recently (last three years or so) but I've really come to appreciate some of the subtitles and just over all repeatability of their songs. They don't seem like much at first but the more I've listened to them the more I like em.

Though those 12 are just the ones with more than a few albums out; there's many that I like even better than those 12 but only have an album or two so it'd be silly to call them a "favourite band", ya know?

Yeah. Maybe not live, but I certainly like their recorded outputs better. I'm not hating on The Lawrence Arms; they're consistently good, just never 'amazing' to me. From your "favourite bands", I like Against Me!, The Lawrence Arms and Fugazi, and everything else is generally uninteresting to me besides the Quicksand album.

Well it comes down to the fact that TLA have more longevity and influence and have been around longer, but I just personally prefer the sound the other two bands put out. I know they're just taking sounds created by other bands and making their own songs out of it, but I like how they sound. Also, The Loved Ones would be my least favourite band on my profile.

I can't stand The Weakerthans, Dillinger Four, Jawbreaker, Banner Pilot, Kid Dynamite, Teenage Bottlerocket, The Ergs!, Lucero, Propagandhi (anymore) or any of the other bands like that. THOSE are the stereotypical orgcore bands. My favourite bands on my profile don't represent my favourite bands, just the ones that have like 3 or 4 albums or more... and then many of my very favourite bands have never been reviewed on here so I can't put them on there.

I usually think of Orgcore as Jawbreaker-type punk stuff, not Gruff post-hardcore/emo stuff. It's hard to put bands into your profile that aren't reviewed on here; I have to put orgcore bands in there because orgcore bands are the ones reviewed here.

Last time I saw them in Atlanta, a drunk asshole spent the whole night telling his fellow "bros" who "amped" he was between beers and being an asshole to AmSteel. Then during the second Lawrence Arms song, he passed out on top of the person beside me and fell in the floor and no one helped him. It was awesome.

So I got the best news ever today!!! I had another MRI on Monday to test for lesions in my brain associated with my MS. I had 4 or 5 lesions that showed up on my last MRI about 3 months when I was diagnosed with the MS... The Doc called today and told me that all my lesions are gone now! I've been eating well, excercising and last month I started taking a daily shot called copaxone. Appernetly it's working!

I'm so stoked I'm shitting my pants right now!!!! fucking fuck yeah!!!!

I dunno if I acted different, but seeing the spots in my brain on the MRI was one of the scariest things ever. Then I started reading all about MS and the symptoms and I became kind of a hypochondriac and started wondering if I was feeling numb in my hands and shit like that... but I forced myself to get over that real quick.

But yes, it's way to easy to get paranoid about it.

Have you been smoking??? My mom came to visit a couple of weeks back, and she has really bad glocohma(or however you spell it) and she smoked legal pot and she said it made her eyes feel less strained and achey.
I would assume it might give some relief for you..... Did you ever end up scoring or getting a good reliable hook up?

Thanks man! I still can't believe it. I had to have the nurse repeat the news about four times, because it was just too good to be true.

Yeah I met this dude over on Red River that I hooked up through last week and he sounds like he'll be reliable. My ex also found a hook up through her work and we went in on some a couple times.

My optic neuritis isn't helped by it though. I guess since it's nerve damage, it's pretty much as good as it's gonna get. The vision actually gets worse when I get too hot. It's strange... I'll go jogging or stay out in the 100 degree TX heat for too long and I notice it getting worse. I tried playing basketball and that was not easy without depth perception.

To Lint/whoever else has seen the Arms play two nights in a row at the same venue: do they change up the setlist/stage banter at all or am I gonna get the same exact show twice in a row? I don't really mind either way, I'm just curious.

I maybe saw them 4 times on the Am Steel tour and they played some different stuff every night. Different banter, too. My favorite was in Pittsburgh when BK mocked Skiba. And also the second night in SF when he talked about the bobblehead Jesus we gave him.

But anyway yeah. Go to both of them. They're not Green Day, you won't get a rerun the second night.

Last time I saw them BK kept going on and on about how the plural of "douche" is "deesh" and that they wouldn't play anymore songs until "someone brings me a fuckin' dessh lorraine."

It's the best non-D4 stage banter I've ever heard. I would pay to just see them fuck around on stage for an hour.

i dunno i've seen the arms a ton. they're always fun live so it'll be a good show i'm sure. i just haven't listened to them in awhile so i'm not as excited as some here.

That's cool though, Pretty stoked to see Cobra Skulls again. They were hear last week and they were pretty impressive. TBR should be good from what I've heard of their live shows. Do they not talk on stage like the Lillingtons used to. The Lawrence Arms is obviously going to rule.
Is anyone going to the San Diego show?
