Our stream today comes from Cleveland, OH-based The Sidekicks. We've got a selection of songs from the band's new full-length, Weight of Air.

In related news, the band will be hosting a CD release show at the Grog Shop in Cleveland, OH on September 5th.

This is pretty catchy. Second song reminds me of American Steel. Pretty interesting for the first time I've ever really listened to this band. I'd buy it. Good stuff!

High school kids in the Cleveland area are stoked. People that dislike bands that sound like a lamer version of Hot Hot Heat are not stoked. I am one of the latter.

A) You get Hot Hot Heat from this band? That's never once occurred to me. I guess I can sort of see where you're coming from when I listen for it.

B) Hot Hot Heat after "Make Up The Breakdown" sound like a lamer version of Hot Hot Heat if you ask me.

You know now that I've said that... yes the Hot Hot Heat comparison is totally apt... vocally at least. Good call.

I just hear very little of the new wave revivalism that I associate Hot Hot Heat with.

This is extremely shallow, but I get really turned off nowadays to even try any band that is "The _______ ". I'll give it a spin eventually though.

yea, i usually look for interesting names like Brokencyde :p in all seriousness i know what you mean, but if the music's good enough you'l eventually hear about it through word of mouth anyway.

bands should maybe try to be a bit more imaginative in comin up with names as well though, it make make it a bit easier on themselves, as awful as it sounds, people are going to make judgements based on your name.

I was saying this when 'The' bands were at their peak, like The Strokes and The Vines and whatever awful shit was popular in the early 00's. I think 'The' bands have become better though.

The whole record will be available on iTunes tomorrow. It's pretty amazing stuff from such a young group of dudes. Their songwriting is way beyond their years.

I had hoped the physical copy would be available at their CD RELEASE show this Saturday. I plan on buying it from them, so I don't want to digitally download it, but I also don't want to wait 2+ weeks to buy it.
