Sublime is set to reunite for the forthcoming Smokeout festival, to be held October 23 and 24 at the San Manuel Amphitheatre in San Bernardino, California. The event, which will also feature Slipknot, Deftones, Cypress Hill, Geto Boys, Goodie Mob, Pennywise, Redman & Method Man, Kottonmouth Kings and Bad Brains is meant to raise awareness about the cannabis counter-culture..
The Smokeout festival was launched by Cypress Hill in 1998. In addition to music, this year's event will feature cannabis-themed events, including a 420 movie night, a "munchie garden," workshops, guest speakers and the Smokeout Cannabis Cup and Medical Marijuana Expo. I worked at this fest back in 2001 when Busta Rhymes, NOFX, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Fear Factory and Deftones played..... it was a fucking headache, and NOFX and crew left the venue as soon as they were done playing, and hardly anyone was hanging out backstage... kinda lame, although, I did keep my VIP pass that read underneath:"Very Important Pothead"

I would go for Deftones and Bad Brains. 4+ Replies

Sublime is reuniting and Pennywise will be performing without whatshisface?

I thought I remember hearing from the surviving members that Brad Nowell was Sublime, and without him it was done. Guess 13 years of bills will change your mind. 1+ Reply

So my friends Mom fell on a shrimp inside of a Price Chopper like 5 days ago. Really fucked her leg up and had to be carted out on an ambulance. With the money that she gets from the settlement, we are starting Bubba Gump records. 2+ Replies

the line-up for the festival probably harms the cause more than helps to promote it. 1+ Reply

Yeah, I watched that DVD about Brad's death, and I remember the band saying how it would be bullshit to reform.

I don't do drugs but man, if this happened in my city i'd definently go just for the fun of it. Line-up is actually damn good for what theme is and a "munchie garden" sounds delicious even though it's probably just going to be chips and candy.

so is this BYOB ..... Bring Your Own Blunt. Or are they provided at the gates?

Their new singer Rome can play and sing circles around Brad. Plus he doesn't slam heroin and fuck up constantly on stage. 3+ Replies

Two bands without their singer and one band without their bassist... Sounds good!

Reunite? Sounds pretty shit to me, you can't have Sublime with no Bradley. Same goes for Pennywise. So you're supposed to go to this thing to listen to Bad Brains and smoke weed?

So Pennywise without Jim and a front man-less Sublime (a band I never cared for anyway)? Throw in the Bad Brains who are hit & miss these days due to HR's insanity, despite being one of the greatest bands of all time. Slipknot puts on a great live show, regardless of your opinion on them.

In related news...anybody hear the new Alice In Chains songs? They don't sound half-bad...but something tells me that has a lot to do with Jerry Cantrell providing dual vocals. The new singer does have an impressive hardcore punk background though- Neon Christ were a pretty cool band. I'm still unsure of how I feel about this though....I'm torn as to whether it's genuine or money-grubbing.

I like bud and I like Pennywise, but I'm pretty sure that I couldn't handle the vast amount of morons who live up to conventional stereotypes at this fest.

I've always been a huge sublime fan and I can sit here and bitch about them fucking with Brads memory but why bother?? At the end of the day if the're making good money and playing a gig for a bunch of pot heads, I'm sure Bradley could give two funks about it, in fact he probably thinks there stupid for not cashing in more often. You only live once, i see no point in spending it judging people I've never met before!! 1+ Reply

The singer is called Rome apparently, a 20 year old native cali man.

It's fucking ridiculous to say that Sublime is even reuniting!!
FuckYouOiOiOi (September 2, 2009)
people still give a fuck about sublime? i'd go just to see the geto boys.
HankMurphy (September 2, 2009)
not that theres anything wrong with time-tested musicians, but where are the young up-and-coming bands??? all these groups have at least 10 years on the scene. dont any new bands smoke pot? and will bushwick bill be appearing with geto boys? this would have been a sweet lineup in 1999. 1+ Reply
