Media: Slayer: "World Painted Blood"

Slayer have posted the title track from their upcoming album. The record is titled World Painted Blood and is due out November 2, 2009. They previously released Christ Illusion in 2006.

I am a guitarist and I really dislike guitar solos, and while their solos aren't exactly "good," they most certainly don't suck. They always fit perfectly with their abrasive and intense music and when they start soloing, it perfectly makes a statement and perfect sense in their sound. That's what makes a good guitar solo.

Don't like solos? that's a sweeping statement.

Slayer's solos (as far as I've worked out) are atonal fretboard wankery. There is a zero dynamic and the note choice is poor at best. Everything a good solo should have isn't here. There is ways to make abrasive but interesting solos without sounding like this.

My friend had his bachelor party at a Japanese karaoke bar in downtown L.A. where all the bartenders and waitresses are super hot Japanese chicks wearing french maid outfits. The clientele was a bunch of rich yuppie Japanese dudes.
They had Slayer on the karaoke list and he (the groom) sang Angel Of Death to a bunch of confused Japanese people. He was headbanging and screaming/singing at the top of his lungs about the holocaust. It was epic.
