Videos: AFI: "Medicate"

AFI's new video for "Medicate" is streaming online. The track is the first single from their newly released album, Crash Love.

Punknews.org spoke to frontman Davey Havok about the album, last week.

by "keying" do you mean matching up the sound to the video?

i think that probably got lost after somebody decided to rip it off of Yahoo and then upload that copy to Youtube. I'm sure the "official" version is a lot better.

No. That's the synch.

The yellows and golds they tried to pull out. It looks like it was hard, but they did a half ass job. Plus, it seems like it was an afterthought, because there is very little in there that really seems like it should've been brought out. Like did you decided, creatively, to bring the yellow out of the guitar head?

I'm a post-production editor - first, I wouldn't judge the quality of the keying off a youtube video ever. Second, it looks pretty good to me and I do that shit for a living. I don't see what the problem is.

That was my only thought.

I was like "who's that dude they hired to act as the singer?"

I think The Art of Drowning is the perfect AFI record.

The records preceding and following it are both good, but one is tipping more hardcore and one is tipping a lot more pop. Drowning is the perfect balance.

This record, as much as I'd love to hate it, is not that bad. It doesn't have any of that shit people would go "Oh fuck, that's gay!" over.

If he wasn't doing that bullshit dress-up shit, you could almost mistake them for a legitimate rock band.

Wow, this chorus sucks so much because davey stays in that stupid low octave. If you're going to sing, at least belt it when it needs to be. Horrible melody over awesome instrumentals.

Rest of the album is saweet.

Man, I don't think so. This album is AFI becoming half a step better than their last couple records. Not that they're good again, but almost respectable. Almost.

Weezer will NEVER turn back towards the light. Rivers Cuomo is so completely full of shit at this point, thanks in part to all the horseshit backlash to Pinkerton 13 years ago. He cried his fuckin' eyes out and said "Fuck all of you. I'm only going to make pop bullshit that makes me money. I tried to do the right thing and you fuckers turned on me, so I'm going to become an even bigger asshole than all of you combined."
