The Hold Steady have announced a short run of October dates. The run will feature support from Suburban Home Records artist, Two Cow Garage.

im not really sure what i think about two cow...ive heard a few songs and didnt really care for them but the bozeman people will probably love it.

im really excited for this show. the filling station only holds 293 people and its the best dive bar in the state.

I like to think of Two Cow Garage as a poor mans version of Lucero. If you like Lucero or Drag the River, then why not Two Cow Garage?

I do see where you would draw the comparison but Two Cow garage is much more a straight rock band. Lucero is much more country tinged. That isn't to say there aren't similarities but I would certainly call Two Cow's more recent stuff just straight rock 'n roll. Of course, i haven't hear the latest Lucero album.

The new album is a lot like the Hold Steady, Rolling Stones in their Exile on Main Street Days (probably due to the horn section), and later Replacements material. The last two songs are very much Lucero though.

i saw them play the chance theater in poughkeepsie with the bouncing souls and the world inferno friendship society maybe 4 years ago. probably 500 peopl.

i saw them 6 months before that in denver with about 200 people. amazing.

24HourRevengeBoner on the summit gave the best description of the Hold Steady ever: It's like listening to a really, really, really drunk Elvis Costello who just dropped horse tranquilizer yelling in your ear while the E Street Band covers the Replacements.

i still haven't seen this band live. i'd like to in a non-amphitheater setting, but it seems like the chances of them ever playing a 500-person place like the middle east ever again are pretty slim. i'd still love to see them at least once, despite growing reports that craig finn is kind of a dick in real life. shame, because he's probably one of the best songwriters to be doing his thing in the past 10 years or so. i'd honestly place him up there with elliott smith, ben nichols, and john k. samson.
