Jon Cougar Concentration Camp covers Screeching Weasel on new LP

Jon Cougar Concentration Camp has recorded a cover album featuring the entirety of Screeching Wease's My Brain Hurts

The album is limited to 500 vinyl LPs only but you can stream the record via their Bandcamp site or buy it at interpunk.com.

The lead signer is kind of terrible in a not enjoyable way. I like plenty of vocalists who are kind of terrible by most objective standards (Sloppy Seconds, Violent Femmes, etc.), but this guy is dragging the whole thing down for me.

What the hell, is Clearview Records back?

Their cover record of The Ramones Too Tough To Die was pretty fun. This sounds better in idea than execution.

i actually always liked the jccc that was more pop punk and less rockabillly.

the sw cover album is better in this case in theory than in practice, but imagine what it could spawn...

Since this is such a great album, it's hard to think that someone could really drop the ball covering it, unless they really screwed around with the song structures...from the snippets I listened to on their page, the baseline awesomeness of "My Brain Hurts" is still apparent.

Also, is the cover art for this done by the same artist who did actual Screeching Weasel vinyl re-release? Looks very similar, so I am quick to assume yes, although we all know what happens when one assumes something.

I immediately purchased this album, strictly due to the Screeching Weasel-relatedness. I AM that guy.

Saw them last month at the north park awesome fast and they were so good. They opened with "Slogans" and I was blown away.
Turns out one of my cousins, sister is married to the bass player and he actually used to play with them when they first started. I had no idea. He said all they would play were screaching weasel songs when they practiced. pretty cool. probably going to get this because that is such a great album.

Dont turn out the lights is decent on this. but then that was always a tune.

the rest are not the best at all and what the hell is their deal with these rock guitar parts at the end of the songs. I didnt know Joe Perry guested on Guest List...
