Against Me! title next album

Against Me! have set a title for their second album on Sire. Frontman Tom Gabel announced the name on his blog along with some other details:

Yesterday was our last day in the studio, and today Andrew, James, and George left for Florida. We had a drunken listening party before packing up the gear last night, twelve songs in a little over forty minutes. We're calling the album "White Crosses."

The album is the follow up to New Wave from 2008. This year, the band compiled some additional studio material into The Original Cowboy.

better than Burning Crosses , I suppose. Looking forward to hear this. Hopefully its somewhat of a return to form. I can't imagine George playing those bullshit disco beats that were on the last record, but we'll see.

a lot of people will say "Crime" but they will be wrong. i'd go with "As the Eternal Cowboy" to start as its got the initial grit, but the cleaner recording and better songwriting. plus you can always work backwards.

"As The Eternal Cowboy." "Reinventing..." is a crock, it's just them covering themselves with some filler songs thrown in. You can find better version of every song on "Reinventing" on their older EPs.

This soooo much. I've waited so long to find someone who shares this opinion on me. I never ever bother listening to Reinventing, it's basically a throwaway. The songs on it are good, but they were so much better in their original form that yeah you see where I'm going with this.

I gotcha. Yeah man, people think I'm crazy. I think everything about "Reinventing..." is actually kind of half-assed compared to the previous versions.

I totally hear the "half-assed"-ness, it just sounds like a live recording or something... a one take sort of thing. Then again, that's better than the over-produced sound of New Wave, but there's still the "these songs were better the first time around thing" outweighing any other aspect of the album.

Yeah. I was actually pretty defensive of the production of "New Wave" when i first heard it. But, now, having let it simmer, I see what everyone is saying. I still think "New Wave" is a decent album, but god, I hope they tone down the "volume war" bullshit on this one. But then, that's Butch Vig's style I suppose.

I gotta say, it seems like they spent a lot of time in the studio. Not that it's bad to do so but I'm surprised the label paid for that much time. I know New Wave was a critical success in a lot of ways but I didn't think they produced enough revenue to allow for this kind of budget.
Really excited to see how it sounds.

No, but I saw them last night in Phily. They closed the encore with "Trusty Chords" ... and there were only like 25 other people in the sold out show who knew what the song was. Disappointing, but I was still going nuts for it.
