The Lawrence Arms: "Demons"

SPIN is hosting the bonus track from The Lawrence Arms' freshly released 7", Buttsweat and Tears for stream and/or download. Bassist/vocalist Brendan Kelly commented on the move via his blog:

"We figured that we shouldn't penalize the people who were cool enough to buy the 7" [vinyl version] by giving them one less song. Everyone should be able to have the five songs if they want em, right? Right. We decided to pass out the bonus track for free because we're cooler than all other bands. That's right, other bands, we're talking about you. Nice haircuts. Sweet matching outfits. Nice sustainable careers. Bleh."

I've decided to hold onto my 18 bits, instead of seeing them play here in a couple of weeks..... they'll be back... they always seem to do two shows in SF.

This EP isn't that good. Everything isn't that good this year. I'd rather have 4 bands put out awesome albums than having every one of my favorite bands put out mediocre albums.

I've been on a HUGE orange soda kick lately. I just bought a 12 pack last night actually. And this is after weeks of Dominos orders one after the other until I ran out, just because they would bring me orange Fanta. And also because I was too lazy to go food shopping. And also because Dominos can make their pizzas with white sauce.

no joke the limbs are my favorite band of all time.... but this award goes to dayight. If every song sounded more like "slowest drink" and "them angels" i'd agree, but the other tracks are just dispensable to me, and that's saying a lot.

Their song is hosted my SPIN? A magazine that competes with Rolling Stone and Blender. I like them, i think they are a great band but but for people that talks so much about DIY ethics yall need get off your punk rock high horse because your working SPIN magazine.

I dont have a problem with the idea of working with big magazines or businesses but don't act like your shit dont stink.

Most people only ever seem to mention their Fat Wreck releases. How do their Asian Man albums compare to the Fat stuff? I was thinking about getting A Guided Tour of Chicago and Ghost Stories but I rarely see them mentioned anywhere. Are they shit?

No they are still very good records, especially if you enjoyed Brendan's previous band The Broadways.

Don't let anybody tell you they suck, so many wonderful songs on both records.

They're not as good. The songwriting is generally decent, but the split with the Chinkees is really where they began to shine.

Don't get me wrong, I still like those records. I'll take Ghost Stories over Calcutta any day.
